Conference at
The American Club in Kohler, Wisconsin for four days of learning and
networking. Distinguished as the only users’ group within the
hospitality
technology industry run by the users, for the users, HUG provides
members with
a united forum through which users can share knowledge, create
solutions and
influence product direction for PAR Springer-Miller’s products that
include the
SMS|Host® property management system, SMS|Touch,
SpaSoft® Spa
Management System, and ATRIO® Guest
Experience Management system.
“The uniqueness of the Host Users Group lies in the collaboration between the user-led group and PAR Springer-Miller,” commented Erik Shappy, IT Manager for The Woodstock Inn and Chair of the 2012 HUG Board of Directors. “This collaboration resulted in one of the most phenomenal HUG conferences we have ever hosted. The American Club Resort provided a spectacular venue with incredible service which just added to the recipe for success this year. We have set the bar very high for years to come, and I am proud to have been a part of the board of directors this year.” Highlights of the 2012 conference agenda included an address by Larry Hall, President & CEO of PAR Springer-Miller and a keynote by best-selling author and performer, Dan Thurmon. In addition, over 70 breakout sessions provided content and training targeted to multiple roles: front desk, reservations, information technology, revenue management, golf/spa/recreation, food and beverage, housekeeping/engineering, and accounting. To accommodate PAR Springer-Miller’s growing user base, the conference agenda expanded to include users of the industry-leading spa management system, SpaSoft. Sessions and discussion groups led by SMS|Host users offered other users the unique opportunity to learn best practices from their peers. PAR Springer-Miller product experts also led in-depth training and industry trend discussion sessions. “HUG represents a very special event in the industry and a critical component of our outreach efforts with our clients. Many companies have abandoned independent users’ groups because they take a great deal of effort to support and require an attitude of collaboration and commitment between the supplier and member-staffed board of directors. We fully embrace this model for PAR Springer-Miller and believe HUG creates tremendous value for our users worldwide. Our users have a strong voice and a deep sense of community that far surpasses other companies within the global hotel technology marketplace,” commented Larry Hall, President & CEO of PAR Springer-Miller Systems. “We applaud the 2012 HUG Board of Directors for executing the “Best Ever” HUG conference and thank The American Club for their extraordinary levels of service during the event.” The HUG Board of Directors sets the agenda for the conference as well as the strategic direction for the users group, focusing on enhancing the networking and educational value for all the members. Through a monthly newsletter, webinars, and online forums the HUG Board of Directors extends these opportunities beyond the conference to keep the group relevant throughout the year. 2012 HUG Board of Directors include Joe Rembold, Delaware North Companies, Jeff Winiesdorffer, Chateau Elan Winery and Resort, Lyle Worthington, Horseshoe Bay Resort, Rob Rohrer, The American Club Resort, Melody Jones, Hawaiian Hotels and Resorts, Becky Collins, Matthew Watkins of Red Mountain Spa, Erik Shappy, The Woodstock Inn & Resort. Members of the Host Users Group elected three new board members for 2013, Marie Bell of Darien Lake, Beata Hunt of Crystal Mountain and Rich Morehouse of Snowbird. The 2013 Host Users Group Conference will be held November 3-7, 2013 at Vail Cascade in Vail, Colorado. In addition to content specific for users of the SMS|Host Hospitality Management System, the 2013 the conference will include discussions and trainings for users of PAR Springer-Miller’s SpaSoft Spa Management System and ATRIO Guest Experience Management platform.
