Nov. 08, 2012 --Construction on a 97-room Holiday Inn Express and Suites is expected to begin in a little more than a week.

South Dakota-based KAJ Management said in a news release on Thursday that it will host a groundbreaking ceremony for the hotel at 2 p.m. Nov. 19.

The hotel, which will be located near the northeast corner of 21st and Greenwich, is expected to open next summer.

The Holiday Inn Express will be located next to the Staybridge Suites Wichita, an 88-suite extended-stay hotel that KAJ recently purchased, it said in the release.

The new hotel will have a fitness center and indoor pool as well as meeting space that will accommodate up to 40 people.

Puetz Corp. of Mitchell, S.D., is the general contractor.
