Grand Hyatt San Francisco in California Nears Completion
of its $70 Million Multi-Phased Property Upgrade

Launches OneUP Restaurant & Lounge Slated to Open November 14, 2012

SAN FRANCISCO (Nov. 2, 2012) – Marking the near completion of the landmark hotel’s multi-phased $70 million dollar renovation detailed in this motion video, Grand Hyatt San Francisco introduces a new chapter in culinary innovation with the launch of OneUP Restaurant & Lounge, a CCS Architecture-designed open kitchen restaurant and upscale bar, slated to open on Nov. 14, 2012. Grand Hyatt San Francisco will also provide a cuisine preview with the launch the city’s first hotel-operated food truck, delivering a sampling of OneUP’s Northern California-influenced, American bistro cuisine across the city.

Our new culinary campaign completes the vision by embracing the vibrant cuisine of the Bay Area and literally putting it on the plate for our guests to enjoy.”

OneUP Restaurant & Lounge – Drawing focus high above the beautifully refurbished lobby, OneUP Restaurant & Lounge references the dynamic restaurant and lounge’s gastronomic philosophy as a level above the rest. Offering the ideal combination of casual luxury and lively atmosphere, OneUP is the perfect destination for locals and city visitors to enjoy American bistro fare that draws from the best of the Bay Area’s locally-sourced seasonal ingredients.  Executive chef Ian Libberton and Chef De Cuisine Adam Nichol will offer a compact menu that will change frequently in keeping with OneUP’s commitment to constantly raise the bar on culinary creativity. Tapping into the freshest products from local and regional purveyors, signature dishes may include: Marin Sun Farms Lamb Bourguignon with house-made pappardelle, hedgehog mushrooms, pearl onions, parsnips and lemon-mint pistou; and Milk Poached Niman Ranch Pork and Beans in white bean cassoulet with crispy shallots, pickled apple and arugula.

In the lounge, guests can share items like Niman Ranch Ham Croque Monsieur Sliders with black truffle Mornay and enjoy hand-crafted cocktails utilizing local, seasonal ingredients created by San Francisco master mixologist Scott Beattie. In addition, Hyatt is working with local distillery Charbay to offer its very own OneUP Whiskey. The 22-month-old, 138-proof whiskey will be served in OneUP-branded custom-made flasks.

Designed by the internationally renowned native San Francisco architecture and design firm CCS Architecture, the visionaries behind numerous San Francisco restaurants, OneUP features a sleek, modern-chic décor with a distinct Northern California stamp. Referencing the great tradition of Northern California’s culinary culture, the restaurant’s showcase jewel box kitchen becomes a welcoming hearth to the intimate 56-seat dining room. Guests pass through a cutting edge interactive wine and liquor library, complete with interactive touch screen menu displays, to an inviting bar and lounge, a lively and sociable setting for cocktails, light fare and live music with 12 high bar seats and 42 plush banquet seats. Off to the side of the bar, San Francisco’s vibrant music culture lives on in “The Studio,” a rock-and-roll-inspired private lounge, with custom wallpaper graphics displaying musical artists of international fame who have been relevant to Bay Area music history. OneUP lounge will feature both live music and top Bay Area DJs Tuesday through Saturday in addition to providing a backdrop for the launch of local, up-and-coming artists through monthly events.

Grand Hyatt on Wheels – Raising the bar, Grand Hyatt San Francisco’s new food truck will be the first hotel-branded outfit of its kind in San Francisco. Joining the beloved ranks of the city’s vibrant food truck culture, the Grand Hyatt’s mobile restaurant will offer city residents a sneak peek of delicious OneUP dishes in neighborhoods around town.

Celebrating A Local Focus – Concurrently with the launch of its food truck and the opening of OneUP Restaurant & Lounge, Grand Hyatt San Francisco announces a commitment to Hyatt’s newly launched global campaign – Food. Thoughtfully Sourced. Carefully Served. – which promises dedication to use locally-sourced, sustainable products and healthier menu options across its dining outlets. Hyatt’s new global philosophy seeks to provide healthy, sustainable food and beverage options for Hyatt guests and associates, which in turn nurture local communities and the environment. Menu changes have impacted the food and beverage program from the operational level to the guest experience. Such impactful changes include at least five local ingredients on every menu; cage-free eggs on all menus; vegan, gluten-free and vegetarian choices on all menus; and smaller portions.
