Modus Hotels Completes Transformation of Washington, D.C.'S West End
Corporate Apartments to Upscale, Boutique Avenue Suites Hotel

WASHINGTON, D.C., September 6, 2012—Modus Hotels, the Washington DC-based collection of approachable, upscale, urban boutique hotels, today announced that the transformation of its 10th property, “Avenue Suites,” in the Georgetown neighborhood of Washington, D.C., is complete.  Acquired in an off-market transaction in 2011, the repositioning of the hotel has taken nine months and is already seeing dramatic financial success.

The substantial investment in the renovation of the hotel formerly known as Washington Suites Georgetown includes a new limestone façade and entryway, redesigned lobby and secluded patio, which is part of the exclusive A Bar, an upscale lounge overlooking Pennsylvania Avenue.  Perched on prestigious Pennsylvania Ave., Avenue Suites features 124 studios and one-bedroom suites, which at 650 square feet are twice the size of an average D.C. hotel room.  Each apartment-sized suite also has a fully-equipped kitchen.  All of the rooms have been redecorated in a comfortable, contemporary style.

“This is a ‘one-of-a-kind’ hotel in a superior location,” noted Aaron Katz, president and CEO of Modus Hotels. “There are plenty of hotels in Georgetown and on Pennsylvania Avenue, but no other hotel has the combination of a coveted address, Metro access and spacious, affordably-priced, executive-style accommodations.  It’s the ideal combination of style, comfort and practicality.”

The property formerly was operating as Washington Suites Georgetown, offering large suites for visiting executives from neighboring businesses, including World Bank and IMF.  The hotel’s Washington west end location is nearby attractions such as the White House, The Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts and all of the National Mall monuments and museums, which are all within walking distance  of the hotel, as are George Washington and Georgetown Universities.

“Now that this transformation is complete, I fully expect that Avenue Suites will become the first choice hotel for savvy business and leisure travelers.  Guests who value spacious, comfortable accommodations and a superior location, along with an exceptional hotel experience, will know they’ve found their destination,” Katz said. .

The new hotel now joins the Modus Hotels’ collection of upscale, urban, boutique properties operating in Washington, D.C., Chicago and Philadelphia, including The River Inn, The Quincy, One Washington Circle Hotel, The George Washington University Inn, Virginian Suites Arlington, Colony South Hotel and Conference Center and The Windsor Suites.
