Michael H. Mahoney to Take Over as Western International's
President and Chief Executive Officer

Founder and Current President,
B. Gene Carter, to Become Chairman

Dallas, TX, September 05, 2012
- Western International, a Dallas-based developer, owner and manager of Marriott and Hilton franchised hotels has announced that Michael H. Mahoney will take over as President and Chief Executive Officer of the company. Founder and current President, B. Gene Carter, will become Chairman.

Mahoney has been with the company more than 30 years and according to Carter, “This change is long overdue. With my move to Chairman I will continue to remain active in the business but now we need to plan for the future and to ensure we perpetuate the successes of our past. As we move forward I will be turning more and more of the everyday functions over to Mike. Actually, he’s been doing the lion’s share of the work anyway, so this will not be a great change.”

Mahoney added, “This announcement affirms Western’s commitment to continue to build on the foundation of initiatives Gene has instilled in Western’s corporate culture. The vision remains the same, to maximize results for our stakeholders while maintaining the family style operating platform for which Western is known.”

About Western International
Western International was founded in the mid-1960s, launching a successful independent chain of hotels in the Pacific Northwest and several key properties for Ramada. In the ‘90s, the company began working exclusively with Hilton and Marriott and in 2002 Texas Western Hospitality was created to focus exclusively on hotel management and operations. Today, Western International has developed more than 100 hotels, and Texas Western Hospitality operates 55 properties under the Hilton and Marriott flags nationwide.
