News for the Hospitality Executive |
Washington, D.C., July 10, 2012 –
James Horsman,
Managing Director, The
Madison, has named Lorna Kirwan, Director of Sales and Marketing at
the
historic downtown hotel, which recently completed a $22 million
restoration. Kirwan rejoins the property, having been in this role at The Madison previously in 2004 before moving over to the Mandarin Oriental where she began her tenure as the Director of Sales and was promoted to Director of Sales and Marketing in 2008 where she remained until 2010. During this time, Kirwan was responsible for the management of the sales, marketing, catering and conference services, reservations and public relations teams and saw the Mandarin through two highly successful inaugurals in 2005 and 2009. Long before Kirwan brought her business acumen to the Mandarin, she led successful sales teams at some of Washington, D.C.’s most venerable properties including Marriott holdings in D.C (JW Marriott, Renaissance and Washington Marriott) and Virginia (Tysons Corner) as well as the famed Watergate Hotel. In all, Kirwan has spent the past 19 years deeply involved in Washington’s hospitality industry. Most recently Kirwan worked as the Vice President of Sales and Marketing – U.S. for the Doyle Collection where she managed outbound business to several European hotels in both Ireland and the UK as well as four properties in the United States. Born and raised in Ireland, Kirwan spent 10 years in advertising in Dublin and London before moving to the U.S. where she has focused on sales and marketing for the majority of her career. “We are pleased to welcome Lorna back to The Madison. She brings a wealth of experience to her role from a sales and marketing perspective as well as a commanding knowledge of the Washington, D.C. hospitality landscape. She will be instrumental in guiding The Madison’s plans for The Presidential Inauguration, the upcoming 50th anniversary of The Madison in 2013 and beyond,” said Horsman.
