News for the Hospitality Executive |
August 10, 2012 (Santa Fe, New Mexico) - La Posada de Santa Fe has announced the appointment of Carmen Rodriguez as Executive Chef. Rodriguez, who has worked at restaurants throughout Santa Fe, New Mexico, is responsible for all culinary operations at the AAA Four Diamond-rated property, which includes the hotel's signature fine dining restaurant, Fuego; The Patio Restaurant, a casual scene with newly-created Northern New Mexican-inspired lunch and dinner menus; and the historic and intimate Staab House bar. He also oversees in-room dining, banqueting and special events. "Carmen's culinary talents have been on the menu for restaurant-goers in Santa Fe for years and we believe he'll take the epicurean adventure so vital to our guest experience to new heights," said Ben Tutt, General Manager of La Posada de Santa Fe. Rodriguez gained experience at several noteworthy dining establishments across Santa Fe. He arrived at La Posada de Santa Fe from The Bishop's Lodge, where he rose from Executive Sous Chef to Executive Chef in less than two years. Previously, he was Chef de Cuisine at Las Campanas; in the same position at the renowned Allred's in Telluride, Colorado; and Executive Chef at Pranzo Italian Grill in Santa Fe. Other roles in the Santa Fe culinary arena have included Chef/Instructor in the Culinary Department of Santa Fe Community College; Chef/Partner at CinemaCafe; F&B Director at Marty Sanchez Links; and Cantina Chef at Coyote Café, where among other things he developed a Nuevo Latino menu for Cantina season. Early in his career, Rodriguez was Executive Chef at Andria's Haborside and Chad's, both in Santa Barbara, California. A passionate chef and community advocate, Rodriguez has been the Culinary Coordinator for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northern New Mexico for the past three years and is on the Board of Directors for the Food Depot of Northern New Mexico. Born and raised in Chicago, Rodriguez draws much of his culinary inspiration from his grandmother. The first dish he learned to prepare was her chocolate mousse, which now resides on La Posada's menu as Nana's Chocolate Mousse. Rodriguez currently resides in Santa Fe with his wife Penny and their three children.
