Choice Hotels Introduces Dual-Branded Combination Hotel Prototype
for its
Sleep Inn and MainStay Suites Brands

LAS VEGAS, May 16, 2012 -- Today at the company's 58th annual convention, Choice Hotels International unveiled a new dual-brand combination hotel prototype for its Sleep Inn and MainStay Suites brands. The combined Sleep Inn and MainStay Suites hotel design joins two great brands under one roof. With a highly efficient design and operating model, it allows for unique construction options in markets that could support more than a standalone Sleep Inn or MainStay Suites hotel.

The smart design captures efficiencies from every square foot of the hotel. Significant operating efficiencies can result from operating only one front desk as well as reduced back-of-the-house and service staffing. Through this new combination hotel prototype, operating margins and return on investment for owners can be driven through these reduced operating expenses and higher occupancy rates enjoyed by the MainStay Suites brand.

"By combining two highly sought-after brands in the same building on one site, we're able to provide an opportunity to meet the needs of almost any guest's travel occasion, representing a competitive advantage for owners," said Mike Varner, senior director of brand strategy for the Sleep Inn, MainStay Suites and Suburban Extended Stay Hotel brands at Choice Hotels. "Offering a product on one footprint that fits the needs of two unique guest segments can be a smart move for hoteliers in today's competitive hotel development environment."

The Sleep Inn and MainStay Suites hotel combines the key signature features of both brands, including the Sleep Inn signature tower and porte-cochere along with the distinctive MainStay Suites roof line. It offers a single lobby and community room along with a shared fitness center and laundry facility.

The Sleep Inn brand is a new construction midscale brand that works to set itself apart from competitive brands through an innovative refreshed design, attracting valued guests and owners alike. The interior design for Sleep Inn delivers on the brand's simply stylish brand positioning through a fresh and innovative design. Sleep Inn offers a fresh product with programs and features that have been carefully planned and tested to help drive a strong return on investment and strong guest satisfaction.

MainStay Suites is a new construction midscale all-suites extended-stay brand that allows guests to live with the comforts and routine of home. As hotels that operate with a fairly lean operating model that is standard of most extended-stay properties, MainStay Suites hotels can enjoy high occupancy rates along with exceptional operating efficiencies.

All guests of a Sleep Inn and MainStay Suites combination hotel will be offered the free Sleep Inn Morning Medley breakfast, complimentary high-speed Internet access, exercise facilities, guest laundry facilities, MainStay Market and free cable TV, including premium movie channels. Each MainStay Suites room includes a fully-equipped kitchen. Housekeeping labor savings are achieved by the standard weekly housekeeping and Daily Lite-Touch service for MainStay Suites rooms.

The Sleep Inn and MainStay Suites brands are franchised by Choice Hotels International, Inc. (NYSE: CHH), one of the world's largest lodging franchisors. As of March 31, 2012, there were 456 Sleep Inn and 66 MainStay Suites properties open and under development worldwide, representing 33,472 and 5,288 guestrooms respectively.
