RiverView Terrace, the New Outdoor Waterfront Event Venue at Gaylord
National Resort and Convention Center Near Washington, D.C. Opens

National Harbor, Md. [May 15, 2012]
– RiverView Terrace, one of the Washington D.C. region’s most anticipated new outdoor special event venues, made it official debut last evening at Gaylord National Resort. More than 200 VIP guests, including the region’s top wedding planners and event organizers, were treated to an evening party under the stars that ended with a special fireworks show over the Potomac River.

Ideally situated facing west along the Potomac, the 15,000 square-foot RiverView Terrace offers a truly dramatic setting. With impressive nightly sunsets amidst the National Harbor Marina, sweeping views of Old Town Alexandria, and the Washington monuments in the distance, it’s the ideal backdrop for weddings, receptions, concerts, dinner parties and other special occasions.

“RiverView Terrace offers an exceptional setting and atmosphere that is beyond compare,” said Robert Moore, Vice President and Hotel Manager of Gaylord National. “The transformed space, coupled with Gaylord National’s award-winning service, will set a new standard for unique outdoor events and unparalleled experiences for social gatherings in the Washington D.C. area.”

IDEAL SPACE & PLACE

The versatile open-air space – surrounded by a lush landscape of various trees and shrubs such as  American Sycamore, Eastern Redbud, Okame Cherry, Gingko – mixed with azaleas, hydrangeas, and other flora – can beautifully accommodate a variety of functions and special occasions, from galas to receptions and weddings, as it presents a number of layout options.

The smooth, flat surface can accommodate up to 700 guests for a seated dinner or 1,200 guests for a reception. Built-in handicapped access and tent anchor points, onsite electrical hook-ups and designated catering staging areas allow maximum adaptability for meetings and events.  Catering is provided by Gaylord’s onsite, award-winning banquets department.

Planners can customize their event with exclusive, one-of-a kind upgrades such as full or partial tenting to create ambiance or cover from rain, twinkle lights that adorn the surrounding greenery and illuminate the terrace after dusk, and – best of all – adding a private fireworks display over the Potomac River – Gaylord National’s signature “Kiss Goodnight.”

FREE SUMMER FIREWORKS SHOWS

Nothing could be more romantic than a wedding reception that culminates with fireworks over the water.  This summer, event planners can take advantage of an incredible value-added amenity that’s only available at RiverView Terrace.  Every Saturday night at 9:30 p.m. (throughout June, July and August), Gaylord National puts on a free fireworks show for its hotel guests over the Potomac River.  So, for guests attending events at RiverView Terrace, it means they will enjoy a front-row view of this amazing show, and for event planners, it means more bang for their buck without the added expense.

RiverView Terrace is available for booking seasonally from April through October. For more information, visit www.GaylordNational.com/RiverViewTerrace.  To schedule a viewing appointment, contact Rachel Chadderdon at (301) 965-3761 or [email protected].
