RAPIDS, MI – May 9, 2012 – Amway Hotel Corporation, a division
of Amway
Corporate Enterprises, a subsidiary of Amway Inc., has appointed Kurt
Slinglend
as chief information officer. In this role, Slinglend is
responsible for
information technology and telecommunications in support of Amway Grand
Plaza
Hotel, JW Marriott Grand Rapids and the Downtown Courtyard by
Marriott. Additionally, Slinglend is a member of the executive
committee
responsible for developing the corporation’s overall vision and
strategic
roadmap.
Slinglend was selected for this role due to his proven track record of integrating IT and business strategies for Fortune 500 companies across a variety of industries. He seamlessly combines leadership skills with a highly analytical mind, along with strong project management and technical abilities. Slinglend is a results-oriented leader with experience in strategic planning, customer and market intelligence, competitive analysis, customer loyalty, myriad B2C and B2B technologies and metrics development; and he has been acknowledged by colleagues for his ability to efficiently turn data into coherent information, and then communicate it to affect the bottom line. His most recent roles include senior IT manager at Spectrum Health, and two senior consulting roles at Formativ, LLC., where he was responsible for strategic planning, business intelligence, customer relationship management and Balanced ScorecardTM development. Previously he worked for more than ten years at Herman Miller, Inc., where he started as an IT manager, moving up to director of market intelligence where he managed a team focused on collecting and leveraging customer and product information to increase revenue, customer loyalty and strengthen the brand. Prior to joining Herman Miller, Slinglend consulted for companies such as Fridgidaire, Brunswick, and was a key resource responsible for establishing a joint marketing and technology venture in Kuwait, that provided services for multiple organizations including the Kuwait Stock Exchange. Kurt Slinglend earned a BS in Astrophysics from Michigan State and a Ph.D. in Physics from the University of Maine. After 15 years of working in the business world, Slinglend pursued and was selected to attend the Kellogg Management Institute to gain a formal business general management education at Northwestern University.
