Cheryl Martin Named as General Manager for Kimpton's
204-room
FireSky Resort & Spa in Scottsdale, Arizona

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (May 2, 2012)
- Kimpton's FireSky Resort & Spa named Cheryl Martin as general manager. After serving four years as assistant general manager for the downtown Scottsdale resort, Martin stepped into the general manager role last month.

Martin brings more than two decades of hospitality experience to the position. She joined the FireSky team in 2005 as the director of banquets and was promoted to assistant general manager two years later. Prior to joining the Kimpton family, Martin held various roles in banquet operations, including director of food and beverage at a handful of Phoenix-area resorts.

"The FireSky staff is over the moon that Cheryl was selected to be the resort's new general manager," said Tori McLaughlin, regional director of sales and marketing, West Coast, for Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants . "Cheryl's dedication to our destination and the Kimpton brand made her the ideal choice for this promotion. Her passion for guest service and exceptional hospitality is contagious, and we're excited to see her flourish in this leadership role."

As general manager, Martin will be chief of operations, marketing and creativity for the 204-room downtown Scottsdale resort. She will lead the hotel staff, managing the day-to-day while ensuring an ongoing commitment to locally minded and environmentally-conscious practices, as well as the fun and comfortable boutique guest experience for which Kimpton Hotels are known and loved.

"I began my career in banking and found myself unhappy and the industry unfulfilling," said Martin. "One day I took a leap of faith and dove head first into the hospitality business. Immediately, I found myself at home and very much enjoying the varied schedule, mix of responsibilities and interaction with guests.  It's been a happy and fulfilling experience, and it's truly a privilege to be able to serve as FireSky's general manager."
