News for the Hospitality Executive |
June 1, 2012 (SANTO DOMINGO, DR) –Occidental Vacation Club, a division of Occidental Hotels and Resorts (Madrid), is reporting that sales are on the upswing at the all-inclusive group of resorts. According to Luis Namnum, President of Occidental Vacation
Club, “We were
proud to be listed near the top of the leaderboard among timeshare
resorts in active
sales according to a survey conducted by Vacation
Ownership WORLD Magazine.” The club has resorts located in Aruba, Costa Rica, The
Dominican Republic,
and Mexico. There are more than 23,000 members at 11
Occidental Vacation Clubs. The group reported an increase of approximately 7% in sales
in 2011, rising
from $31.81 million in 2010 to $35.45million in 2011.
This reflects an addition of one resort to
Occidental’s group and a 98 more units.
1500 additional families purchased memberships over the
last year. “We are attributing this steady climb to our all-inclusive
model, which is
becoming more and more popular with travelers,” said Namnum. “In addition we continue to receive very high
marks on traveler based web sites such as Travelocity. People who own
and visit
here continue to give us extremely high satisfaction ratings not only
for our
paradise-like vacation destinations, but also for the warmth and
hospitality
they find when they arrive.” The
all-inclusive Occidental
Vacation Clubs feature limitless
meals and snacks, á la carte dining
in specialty restaurants including unlimited alcoholic beverages; sports (including tennis on a lighted court,
water polo, aqua aerobics, and kayaking where available), use of the
fitness
center and more. Daily entertainment and a supervised Kids Club (ages 4
– 12)
are also part of the package, as well as nightly shows and live
entertainment
and all taxes and gratuities. |
