News for the Hospitality Executive |
McLean, Va. (April 20, 2012) – With great success at the inaugural HSMAI’s MEET National last September, and with continued glowing reviews from participants at HSMAI’s MEET Mid-America in April, the Hospitality Sales and Marketing Association International (HSMAI) now moves west for the first annual HSMAI’s MEET West in Anaheim, Calif., May 30-31,2012 at the Anaheim Marriott Hotel. “This year’s HSMAI’s MEET Mid-America saw a 20 percent increase in planners over last year’s event,” said Robert A. Gilbert, CHME, CHBA, president and CEO of HSMAI. “The fundamental changes we added beginning with our National event, including HSMAI’s TEEM Up, MEET On, MEET University and more, are all imperative to ensure we are offering the most informative, worthwhile trade show in the business. We look forward to bringing the success we’ve seen at HSMAI’s MEET National and HSMAI’s MEET Mid-America to California for our West conference.” HSMAI’s MEET series is the evolution of HSMAI’s Affordable Meetings®. In addition to having a new name and updated overall vision, HSMAI’s MEET West now has new perks to benefit planners and suppliers alike including:
HSMAI’s MEET series, which is free to attend for qualified planners, strives to formulate new relationships and stresses the importance of in-person conference meetings among industry experts, planning professionals and supply partners, and this year’s HSMAI’s MEET West will include more than 500 planning professionals from all segments of the industry and more than 100 exhibitors who represent hotels, conference centers, audio visual companies and more. Major hotel brands that will be represented at HSMAI's MEET West include Four Seasons, IHG, Hilton, Loews, and Marriott, as well as top destinations and attractions such as Anaheim/Orange County, Colorado Springs, Denver, Disney Destinations, Reno/Tahoe, San Diego, Salt Lake, Tucson, and Toronto. HSMAI’s MEET Mid-America, the recent Chicago conference that took place in April, saw phenomenal success through the key modifications of the HSMAI’s MEET series transition. “It's new. It's innovative. It's fresh information,” said Cara Tharp, Federation of Animal Science Societies, Champaign, Ill., of HSMAI’s MEET Mid-America. “I really liked all the changes. I have learned a lot, and after 20 years in the industry, that's saying something." Exhibitors also saw results from the new format. “I wouldn't have had the opportunity to introduce our property to these planners if it wasn't for this show,” said HSMAI’s MEET Mid-America exhibitor Calvin Wilson of The Peabody Orlando. “We had a lot of booth traffic, and along with the appointments, I'm excited about the opportunities we have. The show isn't over and I already have five or six RFP opportunities I can take back to my office. HSMAI's MEET is a great opportunity to make a one-to-one connection with planners and build long-lasting relationships.” Remaining HSMAI’s MEET shows this year: HSMAI’s MEET National September 5-6, 2012 Walter E.
