San Francisco/Burlingame, CA – March 16, 2012 –Hyatt Regency San Francisco recently appointed Victor Litkewycz as Executive Chef, according to the hotel’s General Manager David Lewin.
Victor Litkewycz is originally from Detroit, Michigan and credits his family for his love of cooking. That passion led him from his first job washing dishes to cooking in country clubs and eventually earning a formal education at Michigan State University and Johnson and Wales University - Charleston for Culinary Arts. It was during his schooling that Chef Litkewycz was first drawn to Hyatt, where he was an intern with the Hyatt Regency Hilton Head Island Resort in South Carolina. From there, his 17-year Hyatt career took him from coast to coast within the United States, with positions in Michigan; Washington, DC; Los Angeles; San Francisco; and to the Caribbean island of Aruba, where he last served as Executive Chef at Hyatt Regency Aruba Resort and Casino.
Chef Litkewycz’s experience with Hyatt has exposed him to a wide variety of cuisines and cooking techniques while serving events from 100 to 7000. His innovative cuisine has stimulated the palates of Presidents, Queens, politicians and famous personalities from around world in addition to high-profile events such as Chaine des Rotisseurs dinners, the Super Bowl, Gold Cup races and PGA Tour events.
Chef Litkewycz’s cooking philosophy centers around quality, local ingredients of the season to create uncomplicated dishes that draw out the best and defining qualities of each ingredient. His style is evolutionary, drawing on many influences while combining European techniques with global flavors . He continues to find inspiration in travel, experimentation and from his diverse staff.
His time away from the kitchen is spent traveling, playing sports, reading, photography and exploring everything the region has to offer.
