WHO:  The TradeWinds Island Grand Resort – a beachfront resort located directly on the Gulf of Mexico on St. Pete Beach, just 30 minutes from Tampa.

WHAT:  The TradeWinds Island Grand has recently completed a $20 million restoration of its guest rooms and suites. The renovation of all 584 rooms, including the pet-friendly suites, began in phases in December 2009. In addition to the rooms, exterior walkway carpeting was replaced with an upgraded, textured surface to give the corridors a more upscale look to match the guestroom changes.

The rooms have moved away from the casual Florida feel and now reflect a more upscale look with custom-made dark wood furniture and décor reminiscent of a classic British West Indies plantation. New lighting and bed linens with new pillow shams, lightweight coverlets and the now popular bed scarves were added. In addition, the carpet was replaced and new natural stone travertine has appeared in lieu of floor tile. The rooms also received flat screen HD televisions, granite counter tops and detailed and unique nature-themed artwork. The color palette throughout the rooms reflect the classic feel of the tropics with cool sage greens and warm orange and gold tones, merging the personality of the rooms with the recent $2.5 million meeting space renovation that was completed at the end of 2008.
