PARIS,
March 1, 2012-- Sofitel Luxury Hotels is pleased to announce the
opening of Sofitel So Bangkok, the second property to open under the
Sofitel So label. The beautifully designed hotel overlooks Lumpini Park
and is conveniently located in the center of both leisure and business
districts.
Thai award-winning architect, Smith Obayawat, and five well-known Thai
interior designers teamed up with Monsieur Christian Lacroix, the
celebrated French fashion designer to create a hotel inspired by five
elements. The hotel's 238 rooms and suites, each equipped with an
Apple® Mac mini, reflect the elements of Water, Earth, Wood, or
Metal. Each element is assigned to a selection of rooms resulting in
four distinctly different experiences for guests. The fifth element,
Fire, is incorporated throughout the restaurant and dining areas of the
property.
The new hotel boasts two restaurants, two bars and a special chocolate
boutique. Red Oven is reminiscent of traditional market-style fare with
a contemporary twist. Park Society Restaurant & Bar, on the hotel's
rooftop, features stunning views of the city and is complemented by an
exclusive area, HI SO, featuring private cabanas. The hotel's Chocolab
gives guests and hotel visitors a chance to taste or take home
hand-made chocolates and fresh candies.
A full service property, Sofitel So Bangkok offers So FIT, an infinity
swimming pool overlooking the city, and So SPA, which resembles a
mythological forest. Additionally, four meeting rooms and a ballroom
are available for meetings and events.
In addition to So Bangkok, Sofitel will soon celebrate the opening of
Sofitel Sukhumvit. The company's current Bangkok hotel, Sofitel Bangkok
Silom, will be rebranded as a Pullman property in April. The openings
of Sofitel So Bangkok and Sofitel Sukhumvit are clear reflections of
the new luxury standards set by the brand during its recent
repositioning.
