West Hartford, March 5, 2012 – The American Hotel & Lodging Educational Institute (AHLEI) recently recognized Peter H. Mason, CHA for achieving 25 years as a Certified Hotel Administrator (CHA). Mr. Mason is the Executive Vice President of Konover Hotel Corporation.
The CHA designation requires and acknowledges specific industry knowledge and experience, as well as successful completion of a certification examination. CHA is the most prestigious certification available to the hospitality executive. Recertification by AHLEI, every five years, requires continuing education, professional development and career experience.

As Executive Vice President of Konover Hotel Corporation, Mr. Mason directs the overall operations of the firm’s hotel portfolio and strategic objectives. Mr. Mason first joined Konover Hotel Corporation in 2005. Under his leadership, Konover Hotel Corporation has expanded its portfolio and hotel management operations to include properties throughout the Midwest and Eastern United States.
Prior to joining Konover, Mr. Mason was Executive Vice President with Royal Host Hotels & Resorts in Calgary, Alberta. His management experience at Royal Host included Corporate Planning & Development, Acquisitions, Purchasing, Renovations, U.S. Operations, Travelodge Canada Administration, Marketing, and Sales. Mr. Mason’s career also included two years in management with Chartwell Leisure, Inc. in New York as well as sixteen years in varying management capacities with Forte Hotels.
Mr. Mason graduated with a B.S. in Hotel Administration from the University of New Hampshire in 1980. He is currently serves on the Board and two committees of the American Hotel & Lodging Association, and is the Secretary of the Board of Directors of the Connecticut Lodging Association. He and his family reside in Canton, Connecticut.
