Harrisburg, PA – Hundreds of attendees expected for Pennsylvania’s second annual statewide Tourism Summit, April 30 – May 2 at the Hilton Harrisburg, will have an opportunity to hear from four nationally-known organizations. The three- day event, hosted by The Pennsylvania Association of Convention & Visitors Bureaus (PACVB), the Pennsylvania Tourism and Lodging Association (PTLA) and the Pennsylvania Tourism Coalition will feature:
Titled “Together for Tourism,” the event strives to bring together many industry partners to explore ways to work more collaboratively toward a stronger voice for tourism. The annual gathering of the state’s tourism industry, will include representatives of every facet of state tourism including museums, wineries, golf courses, hotels, restaurants, attractions, the arts, suppliers and many other tourism partners’ largely made up of small businesses and non-profit organizations. Tourism is a critical partner in bringing jobs and economic development to Pennsylvania. Pennsylvania tourism accounts for more than 433,000 jobs or nearly seven percent of all individuals employed in the state. In 2010, the industry generated $31 billion in economic impact to Pennsylvania, which equates to $3 billion in state and local tax revenues. The summit also includes a rally at the State Capitol on Monday, April 30 at 3pm. Designated “Tourism Day,” the rally will include hundreds of people employed by this vital state industry including costumed characters from area attractions and sporting events, in addition to a variety of exhibits and promotions highlighting the many features of tourism in Pennsylvania. The public is invited to join in the celebration of the state’s tourism industry by attending the rally and expo at the Capitol from 10-4pm on Monday, April 30. |
