HSMAI 2011 Gold Adrian Award winners were honored throughout the Gala and displayed during the Dinner Reception, presented with partner Expedia Media Solutions, and the organization also recognized the HSMAI Top 25 Extraordinary Minds in Sales and Marketing. HSMAI also presented two individuals with the top honor of Lifetime Achievement, which recognizes recipients for their significant contributions and lasting impressions on the hospitality and travel industry. Established in 1975, HSMAI's annual Albert E. Koehl Award for advertising and marketing was awarded to Wyndham Hotel Group President and CEO, Eric A. Danziger. The Winthrop W. Grice Award for public relations excellence, which was first awarded in 1989, was given to Mary Gendron, president of Middleton & Gendron Brand Communications. “I am deeply honored by this,” expressed Danziger in accepting the award. “A lot of the credit for my lifetime achievements belongs to the various team members who helped me. And when I say that, I am referring to people who are in operations as well as people who are in marketing. Hospitality is an industry that has marketing deep in its roots because each guest interaction is a marketing opportunity. I look forward to seeing how marketing, sales and operations people keep the hospitality industry vibrant and changing as we head into the next era.” After accepting her award, Gendron reflected, “Since I received news of this award, I have had to adjust to being in the spotlight, something I have made a career of putting others into. What came to light for me is the connection between my successes and the support I have received along the way. Over the past three decades there have been many individuals who have been engaged in my career and have encouraged me, celebrated my successes, accepted my foibles, shouldered me through challenges and contributed to my sense of security. Thank you, HSMAI, for this lovely tribute tonight.” Additionally, The American Express Loyalty Award was presented to Hilton HHonors, and KeyLime Cove Indoor Waterpark Resort took home the TravelClick eMarketer of the Year award. The Leader in Sustainable Tourism award, presented in conjunction with National Geographic Traveler, went to Parador Resort & Spa (agency: Andria Mitsakos Public Relations) for its Pure Life campaign. Founded in 1957, the Adrian Awards embraces every segment of the industry, including hotels, airlines, cruise lines, car rental companies, destinations, credit card companies and more.
