News for the Hospitality Executive
[ORLANDO, Fla. – Oct. 3, 2011] – The Renaissance Orlando at SeaWorld, a 781-room aquatic-themed resort with a prime location directly across from SeaWorld, announced today the culmination of its $35+ million renovation project, which began in 2006.
A world-class, global destination for business, meeting, family and leisure travel pursuits, the AAA Four Diamond Orlando resort’s most recent transformations include revitalization to its 23 second floor meeting rooms and 65 suites, an expansion to the pool area featuring a children’s interactive water playground, an added 8,000-square-foot function lawn, and more.
2nd Floor Meeting Space
With 185,000-total square-feet of flexible function space throughout the property, Renaissance Orlando at SeaWorld’s transformation of its second floor meeting space now boasts 23 breakout rooms of various sizes, ranging from two Executive Boardrooms with plush executive seating for 12 people, to a 2,000-square-foot meeting room with an air wall for added flexibility. Emulating the aquatic tone that is present throughout the hotel’s interior and exterior grounds, each breakout room is named after a sea creature, such as Anemone, Mako and Tarpon.
A new, unique and cutting edge option for events is the Atlantis Kitchen, an interactive, open kitchen available for group functions, intimate dinners, cooking classes, demonstrations and more. The space features the latest cooking equipment and techniques that include liquid nitrogen and immersion circulators for sous vide-style preparations accommodating groups up to 50 guests inside the kitchen with an option to expand to 200 for reception events.
New Function Lawn
An 8,000-square-foot function lawn, located adjacent to the pool, has been added to the resort’s existing function lawn and terrace. The area provides great outdoor event space for up to 1,000 in a private setting or combined with the Pool Lawn and Terrace for functions of 2,000 in a tropical setting.
Addition of R Aqua Zone
As an expansion to the pool area, Renaissance Orlando at SeaWorld developed R Aqua Zone, an interactive water playground. A $3.5 million project built by Winter Park Construction, R Aqua Zone features a teen and tween play area with two water slides – one more than 120 feet long – periscope guns, a gyroscope spinner, shooting water jets, a water windmill and more. A designated play area for toddlers includes a tot pool, a small slide, more than 20 mini water jets and a rain tree.
Of its 781 guest rooms – among the largest in Central Florida – the resort’s 65 guest suites underwent a complete renovation, to create a very residential and modern design. Featuring six different suite types, they range from the luxurious Presidential Suite complete with a wet bar, garden tub and large balcony, to the Corner King Suites, oversized rooms that feature large windows, a sectional sofa, California closet and the option to connect to a King room.
“Our resort has reached a significant milestone,” said Bob Walsh, General Manager. “The Renaissance Orlando at SeaWorld appeals to a wide audience. Business and family travelers alike frequent and return here, which is why when planning and executing improvements to the property, we made sure they would appeal to the needs of each and every individual, while dramatically enhancing the overall guest experience.”
Completion of the second floor meeting space renovations, Atlantis Kitchen, function lawn, pool expansion and suite renovations culminate a project that has completely transformed the resort’s offerings and overall feel. After a five year journey that included renovations and transformations to the spa, atrium, restaurants and more, the Renaissance Orlando at SeaWorld shines as one of Orlando’s truly inimitable properties.
Located at 6677 Sea Harbor Drive, Orlando, Florida 32821, the resort also recently became an official hotel partner of SeaWorld, an alliance that affords registered guests of Renaissance Orlando at SeaWorld a variety of exclusive, value-added benefits.
