Kokua Hospitality Prepares for Opening of Hyatt Place Waikiki Beach,
the First Hyatt Place in the Hawaii Market

(CHICAGO, IL)  October 27, 2011Hyatt Hotels & Resorts and Kokua Hospitality, LLC,  announced that the Pali Tower at Hyatt Place Waikiki Beach, the first of two towers being constructed at this property, is expected to open its doors to the public in December 2011, just in time for the holidays. Diamond Tower, the second building at the property, is slated to complete construction in spring 2012. Located at 175 Paoakalani Avenue, Hyatt Place Waikiki Beach will be the first Hyatt Place introduced to the Hawaii market, combining stylish design and practical amenities with forward-thinking technology and purposeful service.
Travelers hoping to escape the freezing temperatures this winter will appreciate the hotel’s ideal location, just steps from Waikiki Beach, one of Hawaii’s most renowned recreational beaches. Situated close to the southwest end of the beach, the location offers guests access to the best views and the clearest and warmest water, perfect for surfers. Its close proximity to Waikiki’s exclusive shopping district, world-class restaurants, natural attractions such as the famed Diamond Head volcanic crater, and a variety of other important sights and museums in Waikiki, makes it the perfect hotel for leisure tourists and business travelers. Families will appreciate that the hotel is conveniently located near popular visitor attractions, such as Kapiolani Park, the Honolulu Zoo, and the Waikiki Aquarium.
“We are extremely excited to introduce the Hyatt Place brand in Hawaii,” said Rob Kline, co-chairman of Kokua Hospitality, the management company overseeing the development of Hyatt Place Waikiki Beach. “The opening of the hotel will help showcase the versatility of this continually growing brand and will offer travelers and guests the authentic hospitality for which Hyatt is known worldwide.”
In addition to being a destination location for leisure and business travelers alike, Hyatt Place Waikiki Beach will be the largest Hyatt Place hotel in the country, featuring a total of 426 rooms, 191 in the Pali Tower and 235 in the Diamond Tower. While checking in at the spacious open-air lobby overlooking the ocean, guests can choose from a variety of options, including ocean-view rooms. All rooms will feature balconies offering gorgeous views of the Waikiki Beach neighborhood, as well as complimentary Wi-Fi access, a 42-inch HDTV, a plush Hyatt Grand Bed® and an eight-foot sectional sofa sleeper.
Guests can enjoy a complimentary continental breakfast, served both in the lobby and on the expansive pool deck, which features a fire pit, tiki torches and seating for up to 200 people. The hotel also offers a StayFit@Hyatt fitness center, which opens onto the pool deck, offering the latest cardio equipment and free weights, yoga and pilates mats, and other gym accessories. Additional amenities include a business center and tourism desk located in the lobby; an intimate Bakery Café offering specialty coffees, premium beers, wines, and cocktails; and a Grab ’n Go case stocked with freshly made items, including sandwiches, salads, tropical fruit, rice, authentic Japanese cuisine and more. For those looking to host business meetings or wedding receptions in Waikiki Beach, the property will offer 4,200 square feet of meeting and event space.
“We are thrilled to add Hyatt Place Waikiki Beach to our brand portfolio and look forward to welcoming a diverse customer base of tourists and business travelers alike,” said Gary Dollens, global head of franchise and select brands for Hyatt. “Expanding Hyatt Place into an East meets West destination like the Hawaiian Islands is a testament to the continued growth of this dynamic brand as we continue our development around the world.”
