Educational Institute Establishes Presence in Kenya
October 2011, Orlando, Florida—Hospitality Associates International Limited has signed an agreement to represent the American Hotel & Lodging Educational Institute (EI) in Kenya, which has a growing hospitality and tourism sector. Hospitality Associates International Limited, under the direction of CEO and founder Peter Mukulu, has provided hospitality solutions in Africa since 2007 and was the first hospitality and tourism specific consulting company in Kenya. “In our quest to offer the best in class systems to Africa’s hospitality sector, we are proud to represent the American Hotel & Lodging Educational Institute in Kenya,” said Mukulu. “Hospitality Associates International can leverage EI’s vast global experience and resources not only to enhance the levels of service delivery in Kenya, but also to grow the destination visitor arrival numbers.” Kenya is a country famous for its tourism attributes, with abundant natural resources and two World Heritage natural sites. Tourism is a strong priority within the country, and accounts for about 10 percent of Kenya’s gross domestic product (GDP). Tourism is also a major source of employment. Between 2003 and 2007, the sector’s contribution to employment generation grew at a rate of 3 percent annually, while earnings per employee rose by 18 percent. “We are excited to be a part of EI’s entry into Kenya. They have so much to offer the local hospitality sector—both for our guests, hospitality professionals, and hotel owners,” said Brian Simiyu, a member of the board of directors for Hospitality Associates International. “From quality training programs to professional certifications and resources, it’s a win-win situation.” For more information on establishing an international agreement with the Educational Institute, please call 407-999-8100 or visit www.ahlei.org/international.
