News for the Hospitality Executive |
November 2011 - Tyneside’s newest airport hotel has appointed its first manager. The 179 bedroom Doubletee by Hilton Newcastle Airport Hotel is due to officially open in early December, with Irish-born Seamus O’Hara at the helm. Mr O’Hara has years of experience in the hospitality industry, working at hotels in both Ireland and England. Before moving to Tyneside he was general manager of the four star deluxe Glass House in Sligo and has also worked for major chains including Ramada and at a boutique hotel in Dublin. “I have worked at other airport hotels so this is familiar ground to me but I’m also looking forward to the challenge of a brand new hotel,” he said. “There is a lovely property and there’s something about airport hotels that makes them have a very cosmopolitan feel. “We also want to make sure that the hotel is not just for travellers but because of all the facilities that are available we hope it will also be well used by the people of the North East at large.” The hotel will be operated by the Cairn Hotel Group and offers a range of services for guests including a gym and a range of meeting rooms which can accommodate from 40 to 150 people. It has a stylish bar and also includes a Fratello’s Italian restaurant, the third in the chain. For further information/reservations call 01661 824266 or visit www.doubletree.com |
