KSL Resorts Unveils the Newly Renovated and Re-designed La Costa Resort
and Spa in Carlsbad, California Completing its $50 Million Makeover

CARLSBAD, Calif. (November 7, 2011)
— After months of anticipation, KSL Resorts is pleased to unveil the re-designed La Costa Resort and Spa in Carlsbad, Calif. A perennial California favorite, La Costa emerges from a $50 million makeover, with no area of the expansive, Spanish mission-style resort untouched.

“La Costa has been a fixture in Southern California since 1965,” says Paul McCormick, vice president and general manager of La Costa. “The extensive renovations over the past year have elevated the sophistication of the property and enhanced the guest experience at every touch point. The transformation of the resort has surpassed our expectations and we couldn’t be more delighted to unveil to guests what we’ve been so excited about.”

La Costa’s Renovation Included:

Newly Re-Designed Guest Rooms and Suites

La Costa re-designed all of its 474 spacious and well-appointed guestrooms and suites with a lighter contemporary theme mirroring the lush outdoor scenery of the campus. Each room type features its own color palette of blues, greens and terra cotta, revealing a fresh, contemporary look.

The guestroom color palette for the Fairway, Courtside and Plaza guestrooms and suites is fresh and inviting, playing off of the La Costa blue and cream with hints of terra cotta and gold, all chosen to reflect the architecture, water and flora found on the property.

The resort’s signature La Costa Rooms have their own signature color palette focusing on soft greens and creams with hints of daylily gold. Surrounded by palms, birds of paradise and the sparkling Garden Pools, these spacious rooms seamlessly blend with the sun-drenched outdoor landscape.

Revitalized Meetings & Conventions Space

As one of the largest and most picturesque coastal meeting destinations in Southern California, La Costa features approximately 100,000 square feet of expanded, flexible indoor and outdoor meeting space on the 400-acre campus, including the addition of Meeting Planner Suites.

A top-to-bottom makeover was completed of La Costa’s conference center, which has been renamed The Coastal Events Center. Capitalizing on the panoramic views that characterize the Coastal Events Center, a new palette of blues, greens and oranges provides a contemporary California feel. New technology, including interactive maps and reader boards, as well as built-in large screen TVs in boardrooms contribute to productivity and efficiency.

A brand new series of Meeting Planner Suites have also been introduced for groups. Four spacious guest suites have been transformed into connecting live/work space conveniently located near the Coastal Events Center. In addition, the Valley Promenade and the Legends Lawn, two new outdoor function venues, provide premier space with dramatic views of the scenic rolling hills.

New Spa Concept

The Spa at La Costa has redefined its purpose with a commitment to the elements of nature – from the invigorating citrus and herbs grown on property, to the inspiration of locally-grown ingredients such as lavender and rosemary. The picturesque Spa at La Costa boasts 28,000 square feet of indoor space, which underwent an interior re-design, unveiling a bright color palette that mirrors the coastal California vibe.

Within the 15,000-square-foot Spa Courtyard that features an exclusive outdoor pool, guests will find an all-new stone path adjacent to the herb garden – a Reflexology Path – one of only a few that exists in the United States. In addition, the Spa Café space has been expanded and a new Café menu showcases the herb garden’s chives, Thai basil, mint, lemon thyme and parsley in several new dishes.

The Salon at La Costa has been re-introduced as a full-service salon that mirrors the spa philosophy with its commitment to the elements of nature. La Costa Resort and Spa has partnered with local Carlsbad hair care company, Eufora, to provide guests with all natural products reflecting the nature theme.

Introducing Edge, an All-new Adult-Only Pool and Cocktails Venue
The highly anticipated adult-only pool serves as a sophisticated refuge with a dedicated café and bar, signature cocktails and fire pits with cozy seating. The brand new pool also features three infinity-edge Jacuzzis that overlook the panoramic golf course and valley views.

Redesign of Award-winning Golf Courses
Enhancing the character of an iconic golf venue, La Costa now showcases the all-new 18-hole Champions Course, along with four redesigned holes on the South Course. Embracing the integrity of the original Dick Wilson/Joe Lee designs, which challenged the greatest names in the game for more than 40 years, the new courses retain La Costa’s classic appeal, while adding new challenges for the avid golfer.

La Costa’s renovation also entailed expanding and updating the Athletic Club, keeping in line with promoting a healthy lifestyle. Park City, Utah-based five-star fitness boot camp, Premier Fitness, is taking La Costa’s fitness offerings to the next level. The new partnership with Premier Fitness provides a fitness camp program that delivers immediate and lasting weight loss results by teaching and implementing sustainable lifestyle choices.

Special attention was also paid to enhancing the Tennis Courts, adding a brand new, state-of-the-art Sport Court, renovating BlueFire Grill, introducing a luxury sports lounge called Diversions and the all-new Champions Club, a private lounge for members only.
