The Peninsula Hotels and KABA Explore The Next Level
in RFID Technology

Using RFID Technology to Enrich Guest Experience

November 11, 2011 – The Peninsula Hotels’ nine elite properties each embrace the brand’s philosophy of “Enriching Your Life.”  The company understands that the right technology can ensure a high standard of guest satisfaction.  The latest initiative is RFID (radio frequency identification) in a collaborative effort with KABA. The Peninsula Hotels is exploring an end-to-end RFID solution that will enhance the complete guest experience from arrival at the hotel to accessing the guest room and other areas.

Guests will be delighted with the refined experience of using RFID electronic door locks, since they need only pass their key in front of the door reader to gain access. Quick and consistent guest access to rooms is ensured since the codes are not subject to erasure by cell phones. The most loyal guests will even be offered options for check-in.

The Peninsula Hong Kong

“Maximizing RFID technology is one way that Peninsula shows its guests that we value their most precious resources—time and privacy,” said Shane Izaks, General Manager, Information Technology for The Hongkong and Shanghai Hotels, Limited, parent company of The Peninsula Hotels.  “Commencing with our US hotels—The Peninsula Beverly Hills, New York, and Chicago—The Peninsula Hotels’ partnership with KABA will extend our guest services across all our hotel properties.”
