November 25, 2011 in London

PCI Security Standards Council European Director to Present Topic Entitled
- PCI for Hospitality; Resources for Protecting Your Cardholder Data

AUSTIN, TEXAS (November 7, 2011) — With the hospitality industry being one of the largest targets of data breaches, credit card security discussions are heating up all over the world, including at the European Hospitality Technology Educational Conference (EHTEC). The conference, EHTEC@HOSPACE, produced by Hospitality Financial and Technology Professionals (HFTP®), is November 25, 2011 at Sofitel London Heathrow in London.

Bringing the issue of data security to the forefront of attendees' minds is PCI Security Standards Council European Director, Jeremy King. His presentation at EHTEC@HOSPACE, "PCI for Hospitality: Resources for Protecting Your Cardholder Data," will provide an overview of the Council and the industry standards it manages. King will discuss recent and upcoming Council guidance on technologies in payments, as well as the resources available for protecting payment card data in the hospitality industry. He will outline opportunities for Council involvement, including participation in the Council’s standards feedback period and Special Interest Groups (SIGS) for 2012.

“The hospitality industry is a key focus for the PCI Council, and we are encouraged to see the growing awareness in this sector around the importance of the PCI Standards for protecting payment card data globally,” said King. “With involvement from PCI Council Participating Organizations like HFTP, we look forward to continuing to work together to improve payment card security in the hospitality space.”

EHTEC@HOSPACE is held in conjunction with the Hospitality Professionals Association Conference & Exposition (HOSPACE), produced by HOSPA. EHTEC@HOSPACE will follow HOSPA's one-day conference on November 24 and will be complimentary for HOSPACE attendees. It will focus on hospitality technology topics important to Europe.
