Marriott International Appoints New TownePlace Suites Leadership Team

September 19, 2011 - Marriott International is announcing new leadership for the TownePlace Suites extended-stay brand to support the company’s goals to grow distribution throughout North America and support a distinctive service culture for the brand. Loren Nalewanski has been appointed Brand Vice President and Jim Dausch has been appointed Vice President, Franchising. Reporting to Loren will be Bruce Rohr, the new Brand Director. The new team possesses a strong background in hotel development, operations and sales.

Brian King, senior vice president, Select Service and Extended Stay Global Brand Management said, “TownePlace Suites is quickly becoming a ‘category killer’ in the upper moderate extended stay tier. The consumer sentiment around the brand is extremely positive which has led to impressive market share results and dramatic unit growth. With our new team of experienced Marriott leaders at the helm, I am confident they will propel the brand to new heights.”

Loren Nalewanski joined Marriott 21 years ago as a manager trainee with the Courtyard by Marriott brand in Mesa, Arizona. After leadership roles in all departments at Courtyard, Loren assumed positions both in the field and within the headquarters organization. Loren has served in the capacity of General Manager and as Area Director in Human Resources management for the company’s Chicago area hotels. At headquarters, Loren held positions within Human Resources eventually assuming the title of Vice President, Work Environment and Talent Management for North America. Under Loren’s leadership, his team implemented Human Resources systems and processes into the company’s market HR operations, including training and communications. Most recently in Global Lodging Services as Vice President of Operations Deployment, Loren quickly established the Global Operations Deployment teams for Communications, Training and Market Services, allowing hotels (all brands)to better execute against  Brand initiatives and priorities.

Supporting Loren will be Bruce Rohr, who joined Marriott International in 1996. Bruce is credited with creating and executing much of the training curriculum in the Revenue Management, Operations and Sales disciplines for all Marriott International brands. Since 2004, Bruce has helped open over 250 hotels across all brands, serving as the senior sales and marketing liaison between Marriott and hotels about to open.

Working closely with Loren and Bruce, Jim Dausch, vice president, Franchising, will be the principal business manager for TownePlace Suites franchise hotels in the Americas and has responsibility for spearheading key brand initiatives and initiating unit growth. Jim has been with Marriott for over 10 years and held numerous positions. Most recently, Jim was Vice President, Select Service and Extended Stay Brand Management. He led portfolio initiatives, including Marriott’s extension of its select service brands into key international markets, such as India, China and Brazil.

During his Marriott career, Jim has accomplished himself in positions ranging from Operations to Sales and Marketing to Finance as Senior Director Select Service and Extended Stay Lodging Operations, Director Sales & Marketing Planning & Support, Senior Manager Lodging Finance and Business Development, Corporate Financial Planning and Analysis and Senior Financial Analyst.
