Sept. 11, 2011--Reliant Park is not the only venue around that's getting a fresh look. The adjacent Holiday Inn is receiving the finishing touches of a $2 million upgrade program which began in March. And the property at 8111 Kirby Drive has been renamed the Holiday Inn Houston Reliant Park Area. The hotel's 238 rooms underwent updates such as granite-topped bachelor chests, flat-panel HDTVs, new carpeting and new bedding. The rooms feature two schemes with either light wood or dark wood, and a modern decor with reds and grays in the color palette. The hotel offers six suites, a ballroom, a boardroom with new furniture, the Sports Page Lounge and Bayou Grille. Among the amenities are complimentary high-speed wireless internet access, a fitness center and shuttle service within five miles of the hotel. The hotel draws guests from conventions and sports events at Reliant, as well as visitors to the Texas Medical Center, which is accessible by Metrorail. Formerly called the Holiday Inn Houston South Loop, the hotel's name was changed to tie in with its location next to Reliant Park. Building signs are being changed throughout the Reliant Park complex to reflect a new logo in time for the Texans football season. - KATHERINE FESER ___ (c)2011 the Houston Chronicle Visit the Houston Chronicle at www.chron.com Distributed by MCT Information Services |
