Lodging Hospitality Magazine’s First Annual
Game Changer Award

Marcus Corporation (NYSE:MCS) today announced that Stephen H.
Marcus,
chairman of The Marcus Corporation, received Lodging Hospitality
magazine’s
first annual Game Changer Award at the fourth annual Midwest Lodging
Investors Summit on July 19. The Game Changer Award was created
to honor
an individual who has had a significant impact on lodging in the
Midwest and on
the industry as a whole. Marcus was credited with leading the renovation of the Pfister Hotel in Milwaukee, Wis., which launched the company’s Marcus Hotels & Resorts division. He led other restoration and repositioning projects and grew the hotel division to 18 owned or managed properties in its portfolio. After his success with the Pfister and other similar projects such as the Hilton Milwaukee, Marcus launched the Budgetel Inn brand in 1974 and helped pioneer the limited-service hotel segment. Budgetel thrived through the 1990s and expanded to almost 200 company-owned and franchised properties. Rebranded as Baymont Inns & Suites, the system was sold in 2004 for a substantial gain. “While my name is on the award, this recognition really reflects the hard work and creativity of our outstanding management team and associates across the company.
