New York, NY – July 28, 2011 – Mr. Luis Eduardo Pinheiro has been appointed the new Chief Executive Officer of Rani Resorts, Mozambique’s leading hotel group. The appointment was announced by Rani Investment CEO, Dr. Kamel Abdallah, and illustrates the Group’s strategy to continue expanding their Mozambique operations.

Mr. Pinheiro will be based in Mozambique, in Rani Resorts’ Maputo office, where he can oversee the hotel operations and lead the group into its next exciting phase, which includes the anticipated US$ 100 million investment on Paradise Island (in the Bazaruto Archipelago of southern Mozambique). “Mr. Pinheiro’s many years of experience in the field of luxury hospitality, his high standards of professional practice and his strong commitment to the mission of Rani Resorts make him the subsequent ideal leader for our company going forward,” commented Dr. Abdallah.

Mr. Pinheiro discovered his passion for the hospitality industry at an early age, which was reinforced during his first position at Carlton Hotel in Johannesburg. He has since managed an impressive range of international hotels and resorts that include the Mount Nelson Hotel in Cape Town and the Lapa Palace in Portugal. Mr. Pinheiro joins Rani Resorts after serving as Director of Group Operations & Projects at Meikles Africa Hotels. Prior to Meikles Africa Hotels, he was the General Manager of The Table Bay Hotel in Cape Town and later was named Director of Hospitality Operations at Dubai World/Mantis Collection.

With almost 30 years in the business, Mr. Pinheiro brings extensive experience and knowledge to his new position. His areas of expertise are in strategic planning, development and implementation of effective service cultures, creating innovative marketing strategies, budgeting and financial controls. His previous positions managing world class properties around the world have equipped Mr. Pinheiro with a widely recognized ability to implement change, increase revenue, occupancies and guest satisfaction.
