MADISON, Wis.
(July 14, 2011) – The top two spots at HotelRED have been
filled. Hotel owner and president of Red
Hospitality LLC, Michael Erikson, announced today that Jason Ilstrup,
formerly
with Iron Horse Hotel in Milwaukee, has been named general manager, and
Heather
Stetzer, most recently with Marriott Madison West, has accepted the
position of
director of sales. The 48-all suite
HotelRED, located at the corner of Monroe and Regent Streets in Madison
and
with a most enviable view of Camp Randall Stadium, is set to open this
summer. Its contemporary design and independent
boutique sensibility are certain to be a hit with visitors to a town
long known
for its progressive vibe. To sign up for

Ilstrup spent the last three years in positions
of increasing responsibility at The Iron Horse Hotel, a 100-guestroom
property
in downtown Milwaukee that was named Boutique Hotel of the Year in
2010. Ilstrup coordinated the hotel’s “Your
Desires” guest preference concierge program and also oversaw the rooms
division. Before that, he spent a year
in Madison at the Madison Concourse Hotel and Governor’s Club.
Before transitioning into a career in
hospitality, Ilstrup served as a congressional aide and chief
legislative aide,
having earned his law degree from the University of Minnesota. He
also spent several years as a Peace Corps
volunteer in West Africa.
Stetzer was with Marriott Madison West in
Middleton for four years, serving as corporate sales manager for the
292-room
property that also has 50,000 square feet of meeting space. In
the years immediately prior, she was group
sales manager for a large Sheraton hotel in Pennsylvania. Her
degree in business administration is from
Kutztown University of Pennsylvania.
Once fully staffed, HotelRED will employ 50
full- and part-time employees. Guests
will be treated to modern amenities, including high-end furnishings,
fully
stocked compact kitchens, Euro-style baths, distinctive artwork, a
lobby level
bar and bistro, valet parking and meeting space for 100, along with
spectacular
views to the University’s historic field house directly across the
street. HotelRED, whose opening has been much
anticipated since final work commenced earlier this year, is
expected to attract visiting professors and government leaders,
alumni, parents of children attending one of the area colleges, and
leisure
travelers who search out boutique hotels when they travel. It is
also the only extended stay hotel in
the city proper.
HotelRED is managed by Inn Development and
Management Group, Fort Atkinson, Wis. (www.inndevmgmt.com).
