Magnolia Lodging Development and Shinn Stonebriar Hospitality
Break Ground on 122-suite Home2 Suites by Hilton
in Frisco, Texas

McLean, VA (July 19, 2011) – Home2 Suites by Hilton today celebrated the official groundbreaking of its new mid-tier, extended-stay hotel in Frisco, Texas.  The property is the eleventh Home2 Suites to break ground since Hilton Worldwide first introduced the brand concept in early 2009, and joins the San Antonio Home2 Suites as the second hotel in Texas.

Magnolia Lodging Development, LLC is developing the Frisco Home2 Suites, which is owned by Shinn Stonebriar Hospitality, Ltd. The hotel will be located at 2000 Parkwood Blvd, in close proximity to the Stonebriar Mall, Dr Pepper Star Center, Dr Pepper Ballpark and Frisco Convention Center.  The hotel is slated to open in 2012.

To commemorate the groundbreaking, Home2 Suites executives joined representatives from Magnolia Lodging as well as local city officials and other members of the business community, for a ceremonial first dig at the site of the new hotel. As part of the celebration, Magnolia Lodging took time to honor a local nonprofit organization, the Children’s Advocacy Center of Collin County (CACCC), with a contribution of $5 to the organization for every person in attendance at the event.

“With its growing size and economy, commitment to sustainability and reputation as a second home to so many Dallas business travelers, it would be hard to find a location much better suited for a Home2 Suites than the Frisco area,” said Dawn Koenig, vice president of brand performance support for Homewood and Home2 Suites by Hilton. “We are thrilled to be breaking ground on our eleventh property in such a vibrant and growing market.”

All Home2 Suites properties are designed to meet the needs of modern business travelers and a younger generation of extended-stay guests, featuring a distinct style of contemporary, comfortable accommodations with an emphasis on flexibility and easy access to technology. The recently launched brand currently has three hotels open in Fayetteville, NC; Layton, Utah and Baltimore, MD; with seven others under construction, 40 in the development stage and plans for more than 50 additional properties in the works.

“Frisco is one of the fastest-growing cities in Texas, and the Home2 Suites design, with its emphasis on green, convenient living, will be a perfect fit for this area,” said Matthew Newton, president of Magnolia Lodging, LLC.  “The modern style will complement the surrounding landscape and commercial developments very well and fit seamlessly into the local community.”

“We are excited about the addition of this new hotel concept to Frisco and are pleased that Magnolia Lodging is choosing to build again in our community,” said Mayor Maher Maso. “Continued growth and diversity in our business community have increased the need for extended-stay lodging.”

The Home2 Suites development team determined Frisco to be an ideal market for the brand’s fresh concept given its positioning on the booming suburbs of Dallas and rapid geographic and economic growth over the past decade.  Major area employers with corporate headquarters in the region, such as Ericsson, PepsiCo, JC Penney, IKEA, Capital One, Bank of America and Dr Pepper/7-Up, are expected to drive extended-stay visits to the new hotel, as well as the Frisco Convention Center, Dr Pepper Ballpark, Dr Pepper Star Center and other local attractions.

The Frisco Home2 Suites will be a 122-room all-suite hotel and will feature the extensive array of amenities standard at all Home2 Suites properties. Highlights will include an integrated guest laundry and fitness room, a saline pool, a patio and grill, outdoor seating areas, an exercise trail and a bright, inviting indoor community space.

In developing the concept of the brand, the Home2 Suites team found research shows guests in extended-stay situations seek community and connection after several days, even if it means they are singularly working among others in a common space.  To help address that need, all Home2 Suites properties feature an open lobby area with an approximately 4,200-square-foot community space called the “Oasis.”  The Oasis, which includes communal and individual work zones, wireless access, a 52” flat-screen TV and an expansive complimentary continental breakfast service, is designed to encourage a social environment where guests can relax together, research the local area, check e-mail and enjoy an assortment of hospitality resources unrivaled in this segment of the hotel industry.

All guest suites at the new Frisco property will include a variety of modern features and amenities, such as the proprietary Home2 Suites “working wall,” which incorporates the kitchen and flexible working space connecting separate living and bedroom zones.  A fully accessorized kitchen will contain a refrigerator/freezer, dishwasher, place settings for six, microwave oven and coffee maker, and the media/working zone will feature a queen-size sofa/sleeper, 42” flat-screen TV, roll-around ottoman, ambient task lighting and an iHome alarm clock with iPod port and MP3 jack.  Various pieces of furniture in each of the suites will also be designed to move around, allowing guests to create customized living spaces and adjustable storage options.

The Home2 Suites brand is committed to environmentally conscious practices and has been incorporating a number of sustainable living fixtures and services into all new hotels.  In addition to recycling throughout the hotel, guest suites feature low-flow showers and faucets, biodegradable food trays, compact fluorescent light bulbs, dual-flush toilets, recycled flooring, Energy Star appliances, and carpet and surfaces made from recycled product and other sustainable product selections. Home2 Suites is also rolling out Hilton’s portfolio of brand’s proprietary LightStay system, which measures energy and water use and waste and carbon output at Hilton Worldwide properties around the globe.
