Aug. 23, 2011--BILOXI -- The management team of Thomas Brosig and Karen Sock is preparing for the opening of Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville Casino and Restaurant next April or May. On Monday Brosig was named president and chief executive officer and Sock the general manager and chief operating officer of the resort that is under construction off Fifth Street on the Back Bay in Biloxi. They have worked together at Grand Casinos, which Brosig co-founded with Lyle Berman. "Tom appointed me general manager of Grand Casino Tunica in December 1998," she said. "He really has been a friend and a mentor for a long time." Under Brosig, Grand Casinos was named "The Fastest Growing Company in America" by Fortune magazine. Hilton Hotel Corporation merged with Grand Casinos, forming Park Place Entertainment. Brosig has overseen the development of seven casinos, including four major Indian casino developments, and Sock has opened five casinos in several locations. They met with Margaritaville leadership last December in Orlando. Buffett's lyrics and philosophy inspired Margaritaville's restaurants, retail shops, consumer products, hotels, casinos and Sirius XM Radio Station. ___ (c)2011 The Sun Herald (Biloxi, Miss.)
