Sheraton New York Hotel and Towers Completes Phase One
of $150 Million Renovation

Largest Redesign Project in Hotel History

NEW YORK--June 21, 2011--The Sheraton New York Hotel and Towers (www.sheraton.com/newyork), one of New York City’s largest and most legendary hotels, announced today the completion of phase one of its $150 million renovation. During the first phase of the renovation, Sheraton’s flagship property completely renovated and expanded the size of 1,080 guest rooms and grand suites, added a state-of-the-art Cisco TelePresence™ Suite, and redesigned its Sheraton Club Lounge.

The hotel’s multi-million dollar renovation project is part of Sheraton Hotels & Resorts ongoing commitment to enhance its global portfolio and is one of several landmark Sheraton hotels that will launch a large-scale renovation project this year. The New York property, whose renovation design is being led by internationally-renowned Wilson Associates, will begin phase two of the redesign in December 2011. The second phase, which is expected to be finished in April 2012, includes updates to remaining guest rooms.

“This transformation is the largest renovation project in the history of the hotel,” said Mark Sanders, general manager. “We look forward to sharing the updated spaces, including guestrooms, the new TelePresence Suite and revamped Club Lounge with our visitors.”

Guestroom Transformed – Larger rooms feature Modern Design

Following the completed renovation, all guestrooms and suites will be larger and will feature a fresh look with rich colors, graphic patterns and clean lines, inspired by Sheraton’s new brand design. Additional features include:
  • Sleek, low credenzas and wall-mounted flat panel televisions, allowing guests to easily store luggage on top of and below the furniture
  • All-white Sheraton Sweet Sleeper® bed, designed to meet AAA’s Five Diamond Award® criteria
  • New convenience power outlets at the base of all decorative lighting
  • Mini-bar units built into the wall offering coffee service
  • Completely renovated bathrooms, some with walk-in showers
  • Chaise lounge chairs, which convert into a bed
  • Energy efficient, state of the art four-pipe HVAC system which allows guests to control the thermostat their room, providing personalized comfort regardless of the season
  • Technologically-enabled guestrooms featuring a wired and wireless Internet platform and radio frequency identification locks

As part of the multi-million dollar make-over the Sheraton New York now features the Sheraton brand’s signature fitness offering – Sheraton Fitness Programmed by Core Performance. Core Performance, developed by Athletes’ Performance, the global leader in performance training, nutrition, and physical therapy and Sheraton partnered to create customized training and nutrition programs for travelers. The hotel’s completely renovated fitness experience was designed exclusively for Sheraton guests and is derived from the same training methodology used by professional athletes.
