NORWALK, Conn., June 27, 2011—HEI
Hotels & Resorts
(HEI), the nation’s fastest growing private owner/operator of hotel
real
estate, today announced three general manager appointments.
Dave Baxter Before joining HEI in July 2005, Dave’s 35-year career in hospitality had taken him across the country, restoring solvency to the Westin William Penn Hotel in Pittsburgh, launching the hotel component of iDine Rewards network and overseeing $15 million in renovations at the Doubletree Hotel at the Entrance to Universal Orlando. With HEI, Dave was the general manager of the Sheraton Norfolk, Va. and most recently, he was general manager of the Sheraton Fort Lauderdale Airport. Dan Bettencourt Dan’s 14-year hospitality career started in food and beverage, where his talents quickly earned him a high-profile position as the catering operations manager for the Washington Convention Center. With Weingardner & Hammons Hotels, he served a two-year assignment as general manager of the Embassy Suites Williamsburg, where his skillful leadership elevated the hotel’s performance to the brand’s top 30 percent. He also managed a $3.2 million renovation of the property, establishing his credentials for his next assignment: opening the Springhill Suites Hampton Coliseum in 2007. Before joining HEI this year, Dan was the assistant general manager at the Hilton Garden Inn in center city Philadelphia. Tom Mulroy A returning alumnus, Tom joined HEI as director of services for the Marriott in Boca Raton, Fla. in 2000. He gained additional experience with upscale hotels as director of rooms for the Fort Lauderdale Grande Hotel and Yacht Club. Prior to his return to HEI, Tom was with The Procaccianti Group as general manager of the Renaissance Boca Raton Hotel and the Marriott Palm Beach Gardens. His years of experience in eastern Florida made him a natural choice for the general manager’s position at the Sheraton Fort Lauderdale Airport and Cruise Port Hotel.
