News for the Hospitality Executive |
April 25, 2011 - In light of today’s
challenging
economy, hotel owners are finding themselves in an increasingly
competitive
industry. Salisbury Moore Construction,
a general contracting firm that specializes in hotel renovations and
expansions, uses its unique knowledge of the hotel renovation industry
to help
hotels sharpen their image, ultimately increasing revenue and guest
satisfaction. Two recent projects in Atlanta, Georgia, speak to
Salisbury
Moore’s growing reputation for causing minimum impact on hotel
operations
during the renovation process as well as their commitment to providing
first
class quality work.
Residence Inn by Marriott, Atlanta Downtown Salisbury Moore recently completed a project for the historic Residence Inn by Marriott Atlanta Downtown, which included a complete interior renovation of the 160-room building. The project scope covered all guestrooms, corridors and public areas. The building’s historic layout, although beautiful, was a challenge that required creative problem solving on behalf of Salisbury Moore. Unlike most hotels, each guestroom in the Residence Inn has its own particular design layout, which necessitated an increased amount of planning and on-site decisions during renovation. Doubletree Guest Suites Atlanta Galleria Hotel Salisbury Moore also recently completed the renovation of the corridors of the 160-room Doubletree Guest Suites Atlanta Galleria Hotel. The project also involved a complete restroom renovation on 43 rooms which included converting existing Jacuzzi style bathtubs to ceramic tiled showers and providing materials for the job including the U.S. fabrication of the vanities. As with many of Salisbury Moore’s projects, this renovation required extensive planning and constant problem solving to meet the demands of the tub conversion and various construction situations that surface behind the walls during restroom renovation. Feedback from Salisbury Moore’s Customers Both of these hotels maintained normal business during the construction process. As a result, one of the largest challenges was maintaining guest satisfaction during the renovation and finishing the job on a tight deadline to keep disruption to a minimum. Salisbury Moore is committed to making guest satisfaction and timeliness a priority in all of their renovation projects. “I’ve managed several hotels during their renovations and working with Salisbury Moore was the most positive experience I’ve had yet,” said Christine Cooley-Philips, hotel general manager, Residence Inn by Mariott Atlanta Downtown. “They worked hard- often getting shipments at night and working two shifts- to minimize guest disruption and to get the job done as quickly as possible.” Renovation continues to present itself as a worthwhile investment for hotel owners. “We’ve seen increased business and increased guest satisfaction,” said Cooley-Philips. “Some of our guests that had begun to use other hotels are now returning to stay with us now that our hotel is up to date. Our renovation efforts have made an unquestionable difference.” About Salisbury Moore Construction: Salisbury Moore Construction is a general contracting firm that specializes in hotel renovations and expansions.
