Magnolia Hotels Branches Out as Stout Street Hospitality

Company Changes Name to Reflect Diversified Growth Strategy

Denver, Colo. – April 1, 2011 – Denver-based Magnolia Hotels Management Co. has been renamed Stout Street Hospitality. The hotel management company changed the name of its corporate entity to reflect its revamped goals of strategically expanding the company to include branded hotels and resorts, franchise opportunities, construction, extended stay and its core product – historic, independent boutique hotels.

“We are extremely pleased to be taking our company in this new direction,” said Leigh Hitz, president of Stout Street Hospitality. “We can now further evaluate growth opportunities and expand our presence in the industry while retaining the Magnolia moniker on our four current properties.”

The privately held management company controls and manages Magnolia brand hotels in Dallas, Denver, Houston, Omaha, and holds a third party management contract in Bryan, Texas. The properties have flourished as independent, boutique hotels emphasizing in style and comfort. The company plans to grow the Magnolia brand while diversifying into other areas.

The name Stout Street Hospitality comes from the street on which the company operates in the heart of downtown Denver. The name Stout goes back to the founding days of the city when General William Larimer, Jr. started the Denver City Town Company in 1858. E.P. Stout was the president of the Denver City Town Company in 1858 where he oversaw numerous transactions that helped shape the Mile High City. Stout was one of the founding fathers of Omaha, where Stout Street Hospitality also operates a Magnolia Hotel. Stout and Larimer’s vision for thoughtful, strategic planning and growth is the inspiration for Stout Street Hospitality, which is located at the corner of Stout and 17th Streets in downtown Denver.

The creation of Stout Street Hospitality began in 1993, when Chief Executive Officer Steve Holtze formed the Stevens Holtze Corp. for the purpose of renovating and remodeling historic buildings in gentrifying urban areas. The group’s first project was restoring and opening what is now the Denver Magnolia Hotel. Holtze began branding all its properties under the Magnolia name after opening the Dallas Magnolia in 1999.
