Gansevoort Hotel Group Appoints Karin Kopano as General Manager of the
New 249-room Gansevoort Park Avenue NYC Hotel In Manhattan

New York, New York (April 21, 2011)
– Gansevoort Hotel Group announces the appointment of Karin Kopano as General Manager of the new Gansevoort Park Avenue NYC hotel. Kopano began her tenure with the property as part of the pre-opening team, serving as hotel manager.

In her new role, Kopano will manage and be responsible for all aspects of the hotel, including guest and employee satisfaction, human resources, financial performance, sales, and revenue generation. She will lead the hotel in the development and implementation of hotel-wide strategies while ensuring brand initiatives to exceed guest expectations.

“I have had such a wonderful experience working with the entire Gansevoort Park Avenue team throughout the launch, and I look forward to furthering the hotel’s reputation alongside its sister property as one of New York City’s finest hotels,” said Kopano.

Before joining Gansevoort Park Avenue NYC, Kopano served as the hotel manager at Gansevoort South, where she developed the managerial skill set necessary to shift into a leading role at the company’s newest property.  Prior to working with Gansevoort Hotel Group, Kopano spent three years as the Rooms Divisions Manager at Hotel Victor in Miami. Kopano has also spent time working abroad in her home country of Greece, as well as in Turkey, giving her the unique ability to identify with the international travel industry.

“We are thrilled to have Karin take the reins at Gansevoort Park Avenue,” said Michael Achenbaum, President of Gansevoort Hotel Group. “During this exciting time in the company’s development, Karin is the perfect leader to guide Gansevoort Park Avenue into its first full summer season.”

“Karin was instrumental in the successful launch of Gansevoort Park Avenue. She is talented, and skilled in all aspects of the business,” said Elon Kenchington, Chief Operating Officer of Gansevoort Hotel Group. “After working with us for several years, Karin continues to prove her dedication to the brand and now, to the success of this property.”

Originally from Greece, Kopano relocated to Florida, where she received her BS in Hospitality and Tourism Management from Florida International University. She now resides in New York City.
