Interstate Hotels & Resorts Assumes Management of 30-hotel Portfolio,
Comprising 4,060 rooms, Owned by Inland American Real Estate Trust
Portfolio Now Includes 337 Properties

| ARLINGTON, Va., April 4, 2011—Interstate Hotels
& Resorts, the United States’ largest independent hotel management
company, today announced that, effective April 1, 2011, the company has
assumed management of 30 premium-brand, select-service and
extended-stay hotels. The properties continue to be owned by affiliates
of Inland American Real Estate Trust, Inc. The hotels aggregate 4,060
rooms and are located in 12 states. Including this portfolio,
Interstate has grown to 337 properties with more than 62,000 rooms
worldwide. “This is our second major portfolio transition in the past 60 days, ” said Thomas F. Hewitt, Interstate’s chairman and chief executive officer. “We are one of only a handful of hotel operators with the infrastructure, operating systems and personnel capable of absorbing this kind of volume.
