Oakville, ON. (March 31, 2011) – Howard Johnson Canada is pleased to welcome two new ownership groups to their franchise team.

The Howard Johnson Express Inn Calgary, Alberta was recently purchased by Vishal and Munmun Comar.  Located at 5307 Macleod Trail, the 50 room property features free high speed internet, free Rise & Dine breakfast, pets allowed, daily free newspaper.

“We are very happy to be joining the Howard Johnson brand,” stated Vishal Comar, “with their help we will be re-launching the hotel in the Calgary market.”

The 43-room Howard Johnson Express Inn Winnipeg-west has also recently come under new ownership as it was purchased by Jason Gauthier and Kiley Horvath and features a spa tub and sauna, wireless internet access, bar/lounge, complimentary parking, and complimentary newspapers in the lobby.

Gauthier and Kiley are planning a half million dollar renovation of the hotel’s upstairs lounge into a sports lounge and adding a new bar in the basement.  The group also plans on adding a four-storey addition over the next few years, which would add approximately 50 to 70 rooms to the property.

“The opportunities in the Winnipeg market are phenomenal”, stated Gauthier, “our vision is to take this hotel to the next level with the help of the Howard Johnson brand.”

Howard Johnson is currently on the drive for more franchises with a target of adding 10 new properties in 2011.
