ATLANTA (March 31, 2011) –Atlanta-based Hotel Equities (HE) recently named Barry Stewart as the company’s Director of Condominium Hotel Services.  Mr. Stewart’s focus at the hotel development and management company is strategic business growth and development.

Accomplishments in Mr. Stewart’s 30-year career include his post as Vice President of Atlanta-based Southern Host Hotels when he assisted in the conversion of the 219-unit Ocean Forest Resort condominium project in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina to a successful condominium hotel.  The condominium hotel achieved 74% occupancy in the third year and the rental program was sold in four years for 67% more than the developer’s projected exit strategy.
 
 Mr. Stewart started his career with Southern Host Hotels.  As a turnaround specialist, he supervised the takeover of 30 distressed hotels and also managed the firm’s portfolio. Also during his tenure with Southern Host, Mr. Stewart participated in the management of the condo-hotel project of Seascape Resort in Destin, Florida. More recent condo-hotel consulting projects include the GreenLinks Resort in Naples, Florida and The Lodge on Lake Oconee.
 
He went on to serve as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of the Camberley Hotel Company, an Atlanta-based firm specializing in management of Four Star hotels including the Brown in Louisville, KY and the Tutwiler in Birmingham,  AL.  He later founded Davis-Stewart Hospitality, Inc., a management and consulting company specializing in independent hotels, including the operation of Atlanta’s Georgian Terrace Hotel.    Mr. Stewart partnered in the hospitality consulting contract for the Georgia Aquarium.
 
A Certified Hospitality Accounting Executive and past lecturer at Georgia State University’s Cecil B. Day School of Hospitality, Barry holds a B.S. in Accounting from Georgia State University.
 
A resident of Dunwoody, Mr. Stewart is the father of two adult sons.  In his free time, he enjoys golf, tennis and watching soccer.
