--Location: The hotel is nearing completion on the corner of Fourth and Chestnut streets. The site was formerly home to the Regional History Museum. Before the museum, it was home to Chestnut Elementary School. Much of the limestone used to construct the school has been reused in the hotel's design, said Kevin Boudreaux, general manager.

--Status: Ish Patel, chairman of Vision Hospitality, said the hotel will be completed in mid-April.

--Cost: $18.2 million

--Features: The six-story hotel will include 134 guest rooms, with 130 parking spaces in a structure under the hotel. Guests can take advantage of an indoor-outdoor pool, a business center and a fitness room. The indoor-outdoor pool will be the first of its kind in Chattanooga, said Boudreaux. The building's L-shaped design holds an urban courtyard between the two wings. Rooms are slated to have tile floors and granite countertops. Large windows will offer views of the surrounding city. Some rooms will have mountain views.

--Amenities: The Hampton Inn & Suites is being built to achieve LEED silver certification. Instead of fluorescent lights in hallways, builders are using LED lights, which use less electricity. The site is a short walking distance of most downtown attractions, including the aquarium and IMAX theater. The building uses a modern design that pushes it closer to the street to benefit pedestrians.
