ATLANTA, Feb. 18, 2011 -- Ruth Benjamin, General Manager of the Grand Hyatt Atlanta has been awarded Hyatt Hotels Corporation's General Manager of the Year Award. Ruth was one of fourteen general managers from Hyatt's 132 Full Service North American hotels that were nominated for this prestigious award. The award was presented to Benjamin on Wednesday, February 16th when Hyatt's Chief Operating Officer, Chuck Floyd traveled to Atlanta to present the award in the company of the hotel's staff.

Ruth joined Hyatt as an Assistant Restaurant Manager at Hyatt's beautiful Grand Cypress Resort in Orlando and never looked back. Ruth worked her way up through the Food and Beverage Division and then became the Director of F&B at the Hyatt Regency Newport Beach. Ruth continued to move quickly through the company and has lived in Orlando, Newport Beach, Houston, Buffalo, Chicago and Atlanta during her in 22 years with Hyatt Hotels and Resorts. Ruth was the seventh woman to hold the General Manager position in the company and is one of eleven full service women GM's with Hyatt today. Ruth currently serves as the GM for the Grand Hyatt Atlanta in Buckhead. This newly renovated luxury hotel has 240 employees, 440 rooms and over 30,000 square feet of meeting space.  "It is truly an honor to win this prestigious award.
