WILLIAMSBURG, Va. (October 25, 2010) – Kingsmill Resort recently announced the appointment of Senior Executive Chef Peter Pahk. He will assume responsibility for all culinary-related areas at the resort, as well as add to Kingsmill’s already well-established portfolio of sustainable business practices. Pahk, an Oahu, Hawaii native, brings fourteen years of experience from Napa Valley’s Silverado Resort where he served as executive chef, following a fourteen year stint with the Ritz Carlton Hotel Company.

Prior to receiving his formal education at Syracuse University and the Culinary Institute of America (CIA) in Hyde Park, New York, Pahk began his career as an apprentice in Waikiki, where he received training in classical French and gourmet vegetarian cuisine. He then served as Executive Chef at local restaurants Nick’s Fishmarket and  Rex and Eric’s where he added gourmet seafood and Continental cuisine to his repertoire.

Upon graduating from the CIA, Chef Pahk began his career with the Ritz Carlton Hotel Company, working in Atlanta, California and Hawaii, where he established an impressive following for his Asian-influenced California cuisine. He also traveled extensively domestically and abroad to Hong Kong, Bali, Singapore, Korea, Australia and Mexico as a member of The Ritz Carlton Hotel Company’s opening team.

In 1997, Chef Pahk joined the Silverado Resort in Napa Valley as the Executive Chef. During his time there, he spearheaded Share our Strength Napa Valley’s “Taste of the Nation,” an annual event featuring top chefs and wineries, as well as entertainment and silent auctions. Proceeds from the event benefit Share our Strength, a national non-profit organization to help end childhood hunger.

Guests at Kingsmill Resort’s five restaurants – Bray Bistro, Marina Bar and Grille, Eagles, Regattas’ Cafe and The Mill – can look for in-season and local ingredients including Virginia ham, Chesapeake Bay Blue Crabs, Little Neck Oysters among others, in the coming months.

Chef Pahk is a member of the American Culinary Federation, the James Beard Foundation, Chef’s Collaborative, Slow Foods Napa Valley, Board Member of the Resort Food Executive Committee founded by Herman Rusch, Board Member of the Mustard Festival, Napa Valley, Chairperson for Share Our Strength Napa Valley, Charter Member of the Local First, and a professional member and spokesperson for Common Vision, an organization devoted to making sustainable oceans a reality through The Seafood Watch Program and The Monterey Bay Aquarium.
