Italy's Lungarno Hotels Announces the Appointment of Valeriano Antonioli
 as Chief Operating Officer for the Lungarno Alberghi s.r.l.

Florence, Italy – December, 2010 – The hotel management company owned by the Ferragamo family, Lungarno Alberghi s.r.l., is pleased to announce the appointment of Valeriano Antonioli as Chief Operating Officer.  A twenty-seven year veteran of the hospitality industry, Antonioli has managed luxury hotels and resorts in Italy, Germany, Russia, England and the United States. His passion for innovation and luxury, attention to detail, as well as flare for reinventing existing hotels into vibrant lifestyle destinations perfect for the fashionable elite have been core values throughout his career. 

"I am honoured to be part of Lungarno Alberghi and I am looking forward to bringing the company to the next level” said the new COO, who will be also a member of Lungarno Alberghi Board of Directors.

Prior to joining Lungarno Alberghi s.r.l., since January 2007 Antonioli was the Managing Director of InterContinental Montelucia Resort & Spa, a 293-room luxury resort in Scottsdale, Arizona, with 3,100 square meters luxury spa, 3,000 square meters of meeting/ banquet space and wedding facilities, six food and beverage outlets, five pools, three retail outlets, and 34 single family homes. In this role, he has been a member of the development team and successfully opened it in 2008 although the global economic crisis, immediately positioning it as a preferred destination resort for both local residents and upscale and luxury travellers. Under his guidance, the InterContinental Montelucia Resort & Spa has achieved important accolades, such as Travel + Leisure ‘13th Best US and Canada Hotel 2010’, Esquire magazine ‘Best New US Restaurant 2009’, Wine Spectator ‘Annual Restaurant Award 2009’, American Spa Magazine ‘Best Resort Spa 2009’, RobbReport.com ‘New and Noteworthy Spa 2009’, Departures ‘Best five new spas worldwide’, among others. Upon opening, in 2009 the property had been hot listed both by Travel + Leisure and by Condé Nast Traveler as one of the top new hotels in the world. 

Previously, as General Manager of the W Hotel in Los Angeles, he oversaw the entire hotel operation, while enhancing it into a contemporary, world-class hotel through a complete restructuring of its outlets. His vision included adding Los Angeles’ hottest bar, Whiskey Blue; critically acclaimed restaurant, NineThirty, which was awarded ‘LA Times Best Restaurant’ in 2006; opening the Backyard restaurant; New York’s hottest spa, Bliss. His influence helped cultivate the hotel into an urban oasis complimented by contemporary art, music and seductive interiors.
 
His international experience includes the role of General Manager of the historical Diana Majestic in Milan, which he repositioned as “the fashion hotel in Milan” by making a true happening of the Milanese habit of having an evening aperitif. Here, Antonioli created the Diana Garden and Black Label Room transforming Diana Majestic into one of the hippest hotels in Europe.  Prior to that, Antonioli has been Resident Manager at Hotel Principie di Savoia and Hotel Duca in Milan, Room Division Manager at Grand Hotel Europe in St. Petersburg and at Arabella Grand Hotel in Frankfurt, Germany.
 
Antonioli is a Certified Business Economist and holds a degree in business economics from VWA Goethe University in Frankfurt, Germany. He has also attended courses in Marketing and Hospitality Industry Strategic Management at Cornell University. Married with two children, he is a Taekwondo Black Belt and enjoys outdoor sports including skiing, mountain climbing, golf and tennis. Recently he has even become a yoga fan. He is author of the successful book “Eating, Drinking and Flirting”, published by Mondadori, and “The Joy of Discovery”, which tells in an evocative, emotional style all that you can experience at Montelucia Resort & Spa. Antonioli is fluent in four languages including Italian, German and French. In 2007 he has been decorated in the Legion of Honour of the Italian Republic as Cavaliere della Repubblica Italiana.
