Tim Shelton Appointed Director of Sales & Marketing
for The H Hotel, a Dolce Property, in Midland, Michigan

MIDLAND, Mich. (July 28, 2010) ─ The H Hotel, a Dolce Conference Hotel, has announced the appointment of Tim Shelton of Midland as director of sales & marketing, responsible for attracting and retaining corporate, association and social group business as well as individual business and leisure travelers.

He previously was director of sales & marketing for the 150-room Doubletree Hotel Bay City-Riverfront in Bay City, Mich., managed by Hotel Investment Services Inc. of Troy, Mich., where he served on the pre-opening team, helped develop and train the sales force and managed advertising and public relations, among other responsibilities,. 
From 2001 to 2003, Shelton was director of sales & marketing for Valley Plaza Resort, a 164-room hotel and convention center in Midland.  From 1987 to 2001, he held positions of increasing responsibility at the Indianapolis Marriott East in Indiana, beginning as front desk clerk and ending as director of marketing.
Shelton was front desk manager and night audit manager at the Sheraton East Hotel, Indianapolis, from 1985 to 1987 and dock master for Shepler’s Mackinac Island Ferry, Mackinac City, Mich., from 1981 to 1985.  He began his career at the Durbin Hotel, Rushville, Ind., in 1978.
Shelton is a 1985 graduate of Ball State University, Muncie, Ind., where he received a bachelor’s degree in business administration.  He subsequently completed numerous professional development classes through Marriott International and Hilton Worldwide.
He is a member of the Bay City Rotary Club, Midland County Convention & Visitors Bureau, Michigan Society of Association Executives and Meeting Professionals International-Michigan Chapter.

The H Hotel, managed by Dolce Hotels and Resorts, features 131 guest rooms; 6,000 square feet of meeting space including the Indigo Ballroom, with seating up for up to 300; connectivity kiosks with printing and faxing; business center; fitness center with indoor pool, whirlpool and massage rooms, fine-dining restaurant; cafe; lounge; and wireless Internet service propertywide.
