Millennium Hotels & Resorts announced
today the appointment of Kathy Faulk as General Manager of the
Millennium
Biltmore Hotel. In her new position, Faulk will oversee
day-to-day
operations and manage continued growth at the historic hotel, which
includes
four food and beverage outlets and 70,000 square feet of meeting
space. A skilled hospitality professional with 25 years of experience, Faulk began her career with The Mansion on Turtle Creek in Dallas, Texas before serving as Controller of the Biltmore under the Wrather Hotel Corporation. She has also held leadership positions with Sunburst Hospitality, Hilton Hotels and Destination Hotels and Resorts, overseeing historic and 4-diamond properties in Texas including The Richardson Hotel and The Driskill Hotel. Most recently Faulk served as General Manager of the boutique Hilton Checkers in downtown Los Angeles where she was awarded 2008 General Manager of the Year. “The opportunity to continue my involvement in the downtown Los Angeles market in such a historically significant and iconic hotel is a true honor and privilege,” says Faulk. “As the market continues to rebuild out of this economic downtown, The Millennium Biltmore Hotel will be uniquely positioned to offer a luxury alternative to the typical downtown hotel experience in a truly special and unique way.” Kathy Faulk holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Texas A&M, is a member of the Downtown Breakfast Club, an appointed member of the Business Tax Advisory Committee for the City of Los Angeles and serves on the Board of Directors for the Downtown Center Business Improvement District and LA Inc., The Los Angeles Convention and Visitors Bureau. About the Millennium Biltmore Hotel The Millennium Biltmore Hotel Los Angeles was designed in the style of the Spanish-Italian Renaissance and opened in 1923 to national acclaim as the largest hotel west of Chicago; it was designated a Historical Cultural Landmark by the City of Los Angeles in 1969. The legendary 11-story structure was designed by famed New York architectural firm Schultze & Weaver, known for the Waldorf Astoria and Park Lane hotels, with cathedral ceilings hand-painted by Italian artist Giovanni Smeraldi of White House and Vatican fame. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences held their founding banquet in the Crystal Ballroom in 1927, where the design for the “Oscar” statuette was sketched on a Biltmore napkin, and eight Academy Awards banquets were held in the Biltmore Bowl during the 1930s and ‘40s. The hotel was also the host for the 1960 Democratic National Convention and the 1984 Summer Olympic games. Seventeen meeting and banquet rooms are resplendent with hand-oiled wood paneling, ornate carvings, vivid frescoes and sparkling crystal chandeliers. Countless films and television shows have been shot at the Millennium Biltmore, including Bugsy, Chinatown, Ghostbusters, Ocean’s 11, Independence Day, Dreamgirls, The Soloist, The West Wing, Mad Men, Nip/Tuck, Boston Legal, CSI: New York and Heroes. |
