The City of Nashville and Omni Hotels Sign Pre-development Agreement
to Build an 800-room Hotel in Downtown Nashville

IRVING, Texas, Aug. 24, 2010 - The Metropolitan Government and Omni Hotels & Resorts have reached a pre-development agreement to build a new hotel in downtown Nashville.  The Omni Nashville Hotel will be adjacent to the new, state-of-the-art 1.2 million square foot Music City Convention Center currently under construction and scheduled for completion in 2013.  The new multi-story hotel, which will feature approximately 800 guest rooms and suites and over 80,000 square feet of meeting and event space, is estimated to open later that same year.

Also located steps away from the new Country Music Hall of Fame, the Omni Nashville Hotel's design and decor, culinary, lifestyle and retail venues will stem from and become reflective of Nashville.  The Omni Nashville Hotel will serve as a launching point for the entire destination and showcase Nashville's unique cultural elements.  The hotel is expected to boast several restaurants, bars and lounges, as well as retail space, a pool, fitness center and a Mokara signature spa all in keeping with the strong cultural persona of Nashville, also known as Music City which will appeal to meeting and event attendees, vacationers and locals.

"This project represents a true public-private partnership that will bring substantial economic benefit to our city," NashvilleMayor Karl Dean said. "We broke ground on our new downtown convention center earlier this year. The headquarters hotel completes the picture for Music City Center and dramatically enhances our ability to market it and reach our goals for growingNashville's tourism industry."

"We are proud to add the Omni Hotels & Resorts flag to Nashville's dynamic downtown environment," said Mike Deitemeyer, president of Omni Hotels & Resorts.  "The City of Nashville has demonstrated strong and steady leadership in moving this project ahead.  We look forward to working with Nashville's leaders to build upon the city's growing reputation with a new hotel, convention center and other venues which will further position Nashville as a leading destination."

Omni Hotels & Resorts also announced that the luxury hotel brand was the highest bidder for the renowned Amelia Island Plantation, located 29 miles north of Jacksonville, Fla.  The brand bid $67.1 million for the resort at an auction held on Aug. 23, which is contingent on the Amelia Island Company's Chapter 11 bankruptcy reorganization plan obtaining approval at another court hearing on Aug. 26.

Omni Hotels & Resorts expects to take over full ownership and operation of the luxury resort sometime this fall.  The brand plans to expand the resort development with approximately 125 additional guest rooms and suites as well as a new 16,000 square foot ballroom to accommodate additional meetings and events.

"We are exceptionally pleased to add this extraordinary resort to the Omni portfolio given its great beauty, gracious accommodations and broad range of amenities," said Mike Deitemeyer, president of Omni Hotels & Resorts.  "We believe that the property extends our luxury resort collection and exemplifies our commitment to deliver memorable experiences to our guests."

The resort acquisition is part of Omni's ongoing strategic expansion across North America.  The brand expanded in the last few years with the addition of the Omni Bedford Springs Resort in Bedford, Pa. (January 2009) and the Omni Mount Washington Resort in Bretton Woods, N.H. (September 2010).
