Purchasing for the Environment

GREEN is on the Move.  Impact Enterprises, Inc. contracts to manufacture eco-friendly
menu covers for the worlds leading international entertainment company

August 5, 2010 -

Impact Enterprises was chosen by Live Nation Entertainment to produce new eco-friendly menu covers for their 12 owned and operated House of Blues clubs in North America.  This environmentally responsible decision makes Live Nation Entertainment a role model for corporate programs designed around Green accessory products.

Impact Enterprises, Inc., used Blue Pine to manufacture these menu covers.  Blue Pine is the Greenest of Green solid woods (Impact Blue Pine).  In addition to its eco-friendly qualities, Blue Pine has a varying but distinctive color pattern in its grains that make it unique among all solid woods.  This unique color pattern complemented the artistic style Live Nation uses to create the House of Blues brand assets.  The engraved artwork features custom laser engraving that honors three blues legends paired with the iconic House of Blues logo.

Solid wood remains the most eco-friendly material for durable products.  Solid wood accessory items in particular have been slow to be tested by major hospitality companies.  The Green focus remains in energy and water conservation which is understandable in light of the publicity both receive.  The decision by Live Nation to use solid wood for one of its accessory items is a significant step towards reinforcing the importance of controlling landfill growth and contamination.  It is an environmentally responsible decision that will help to increase the awareness in corporate offices around the world that a green initiative includes a mindset towards making a meaningful effort to minimize landfill growth and contamination

Business Decisions and Socially Conscious Decisions An excerpt from Impact's Newsletter:  April 2009 Ralph W. Salisbury

Conservation is a frame of mind.  It begins by developing a mindset to make a meaningful effort to minimize waste and contamination.  "A meaningful effort" is the key phrase.  It implies that green purchasing and disposal decisions may not be 100% green at this time.  Product and product components required for our manufacturing operations may not currently be available in green.  Many manufacturers are working to resolve this situation, however, it currently remains a fact that required product components are not always available as green components.  Your mindset to make a meaningful effort will encourage you to proceed with purchasing decisions that maximize a green commitment in the face of this dilemma.  Your commitment to green is not lessened by the necessity of using required components not currently available in green.  There is a balance between Business decisions and Socially Conscious decisions.  The environment must remain healthy, and so should your business.
