Madison Hospitality Group, LLC Acquires Thumper Pond,
a Golf Destination Resort in Ottertail, Minnesota

OTTERTAIL, MN - May 11. 2010 - Madison Hospitality Group, LLC, a Minnesota-based hospitality operator, has purchased Thumper Pond Golf Resort, a popular destination property in Ottertail, Minnesota. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Bill Schultz, Vice President of Madison Hospitality Group, says that over a half-million dollars are slated for investment in the 250-acre full-service three-star resort located 70 minutes east of Fargo, ND. “We are committed to the future success of Thumper Pond – both through a significant investment of capital and a passion to serve our current and future resort guests,” says Schultz.

There is a new vision at the property in Ottertail, with plans being made for an extensive restaurant renovation as well as a facelift for the public spaces on the property. Thumper Pond Golf Resort features amenities for guests including an all-suite hotel, championship 18-hole golf course, pro-shop, conference center, restaurant/lounge, spa, and indoor waterpark.

Golf Magazine described the 18-hole championship golf course as a must play saying, “Challenging holes and beautiful scenery make this golf course a desirable location for all golfers. It challenges even the most accurate of shot makers. You do not want to miss this Minnesota golf course in its serene location.”

The 12,000-square-foot Northern Hideaway Indoor Waterpark features a three-story tower with two slides that twist and turn outside the waterpark, a zero-entry toddler pool and lazy river tube ride. The park is big enough to entertain kids and small enough for adults to be able to relax.

Seventy-eight spacious suites welcome guests, providing amenities designed to make each stay enjoyable and memorable, including free Wi-Fi. Expansive meeting rooms and banquet sites make Thumper Pond the perfect spot for business meetings, weddings and other events.

One of the latest developments is the commitment to seeing a residential community surrounding the golf course. Thumper Pond’s new owners are in the process of terminating the rather unpopular “common interest community” plan and converting to 29 larger single family lots that feature wooded sites overlooking Thumper Pond’s fairways and other spectacular natural sights. Laurie Woessner of Boll Realty says, “What I’m most excited about is the restructuring of the development. There are already community utilities; sewer, water and natural gas in place. It’s priced well below current lakeshore lots and other properties in the area.

Combining the accessibility of over eight lakes within in a five mile radius and the natural beauty of the golf course, you’ll find Thumper Pond the perfect location for your new home.” Those interested in learning more about golf resort living at Thumper Pond can please contact Laurie Woessner at Boll Realty at 218-639-1825 or 218-367-2716.

“We have some exciting things planned here at Thumper Pond that will be new and interesting in addition to the amenities that already make this such a special place,” says Schultz.
